Can you trap, shoot, or otherwise kill and eat those legally? Or do you need permits?
At LSPR last year I towed Dillon Van Way's fiesta from kenton to houghton on a strap with my volvo, through a rain storm. It took about 3 hours to go 70 miles. So I'm no stranger to flat towing. I'll have to see what kind of scheme I can think up to get the car back here. I've got a coworker looking in to an astro van for me, so if that works out I plan to drive the astro while I build the volvo, use the astro as a service rig, and drive my wife's taurus once baby #3 gets here at the end of august and she "upgrades" to some minivan type thing.

We've been in our new place for a week now, this week has been my first week at the new job. Lots of wild turkeys running around in my yard and woods. I went for a walk on sunday evening and came back with 24 wood ticks on me.

Wha!!!!!!
Didn't i say to get out the garden shears and snip that thing off?
You do understand how that works dontcha??
Wouldn't it have been easier to just throw a 20A fuse into the slot than have to replace a breaker? 20A fuse could be swapped out on stage.

To Steve's point about accuracy, I thought I remember somebody saying that a repeatedly tripped breaker could allow a much higher current, and increase the possibility of wiring shorts.

No Chad, the breakers I have are push button, not the little spade fuse thingies. I just pushed it back on, the swap was at a later time. No need to swap breakers if their speced right, I just didnt do it right for that circuit.

Some rookie thoughts as I'm nearing the bottom of my second 20 oz canadian mist and coke:

vito, if you had a spare front control arm (assuming sway bar option on either end) I can get those swapped in about 5 min provided they are already bushed, and have a ball joint. Might be worthwhile?
IF you get creative with a wrench, socket and welder you can put together a little control arm nut remover to get at the bastard inside the subframe.

I have a collection of hemostats (locking small needle-nose pliers from the hospital) that I use all the time when changing brake rotors, coolant lines etc. Probably a service area item, but much cheaper and easier than carrying 5 pair of vice-grips. also amazing for grabbing hot nuts and bolts

Does anyone carry a small ziplock baggie of the little rubber gloves? or mechanics gloves. Just about anything you touch is going to be hot, hot brakes, lug nuts engine bay etc.

What about carrying a high powered batter floodlight for night rallies? I've seen quite a few videos of teams losing lights.

Also, how come no one has mentioned a pint of whiskey? seems like that could come in handy

Maybe a heater hose, some hose clamps, bailing wire, and some tools. I can see the value of having a couple qrts of oil and brake fluid if you need to top up the vitals -assuming its not going to leak out in 5 min anyway-

Its all about getting through the stage or stages and the transit back to service.

The WRC boys carry a drive shaft or two and control arms. But the cars are also built so that parts can almost be hot swapped. Few cars in NA are engineered to this spec.

Breakers have a delay as they are tripped by the heat generated from the current going through them. A motor for example might draw 3A but it will spike on startup to say 6A. A fuse in this instance would have to be a 10A or it would trip as soon as the motor starts. With a breaker you could use a 5A and it would not trip until it sustains amperage over 5A. So a breaker can give you more protection in some instances. Most fuses in cars are fast blow. An electronic device such as your ecu, diff control etc would be best to have on a fast blow fuse. Typically someone will reset a breaker without second thought and hope it stays closed. Fuses lend themself to a person looking for why it blew. But most people with limited electrical experiance will replace it and sometimes with a larger fuse... Look for the smoke boys!

its all about application. I like the new fuses that have a small LED built into them. If they blow the LED will turn on (its a very high resistance and the voltage drop across it will not hurt anything). Keith, Hardy's car has them.. Great use of them.

Yeah, though I'd suggest following the a-pillar support recommendations (8.3.2.1.4). Keep it around 20 degrees and keep it straight from the side view. I usually just try to get it as far away from helmet and close to contour of body shell. On the 4 door, I made it so that the maximum linear inches of the bar is right against the b-pills to allow it to be stitched to it. The bend is just into the rear door opening and the bar meets the main hoop just at the top of the lower bend in hoop, or basically where yours is in that pic.

Breakers are not that expensive. Just order a bunch from aircraft spruce, right around $6 each. Way cleaner to install than a fuse panel, allow resetting when an intermettent problem pops up, and proves when an electrical failure is permanent. We had a window motor that would blow the fuse intermittently, and almost stopped us from starting a stage. $5 breaker would have made life much easier.
