Press releases---for immediate release---will save rally.

I don't think the information about the new USRA could trickle out any slower. I gleaned this from facebook thread earlier today.

Denise McMahon: "BOD is all across the country and more press releases are coming."

So is she hinting at the USRA being more than just a SW USA sanctioning body?

From the SS thread (http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?68985-New-Rally-Organization-to-be-announced-today), Tom Nelson is apparently the president - according to linkedin, he's back in colorado after a few year stint in the southwest.

Colorado isn't quite the southwest, is it?

One thing is for sure... facebook is going crazy for what is going to be pretty much nothing. To be fair most people are just hoping for the best and for new and exciting things.... but yeah just will look bad in the end.

Oh that's just some Yeee har Circke track organizations. They look like they only have 700-800 active racers running a whole lotta just "stock" cars. I didn't see a single Subaru in the results I looked at.
What kinda hokey outfit only has zero Dubya Are Exes?

I'm sure they'll never even notice the copywrite and trademark infringement----somebody'd hafta send them a link...

And if they sue....how much can they win anyway?

The red and blue is, at this point in marketing history, a theme more than an individual company's property. Some similar examples:

I don't think they'll be too upset:

They might be?

If I were the person in charge of legal on the BOD I'd be having a long talk with, if not terminating, the person in charge of marketing/promotion at this point.

Regarding the comparison to the initial RA release, I'm not huge RA backer, but they did at least reference having coordinated systems and people in place for:
legal matters
finance
business management
accounting
marketing and promotion
graphic design and printing
event organization
computer technology
communications
ProRally competition
financial support

You need to have systems in place to run each event, and the series as a whole, as a business entity. It's paramount to success and far more important then being a rah rah cheerleader for rally or the series. I'd add volunteer organization and recruitment to the list of needs as well, sure it falls under event management, but it's a big enough issue to require it's own place on the list. Marketing, promotion, graphic design and printing can all be outsourced (and many times should be). If you dig on Nasa's site, on the surface it's the typical "yeah! let's go rally! woot woot" page, but if you dig and spent more then 5 minutes on it, you'll see that there are specific system protocols outlined on how to run an event. Everything from checklist, outlines etc, the framework and organizational structure is there. Until I see system structure outlined and addressed I fear for the organization, even if founded on the premise of best intentions.

am I the only person that thinking rally doesn't need saving?

fwd for those who want to feel safe
rwd for those who want to have fun
awd for those who want to be poor

I'm pretty sure Gene was observing that some enterprising individual appears to have Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V (followed by a quick bucket fill) of the it's-definitely-not-a-dodge-dart from the GRC logo.
