Halo Seat Questions
August 25, 2015 06:43PM
Hey Guys,

I've run into an issue trying to fit a Halo'd seat into my 88 celicas. We initially had to cut out a decent sized portion of the floor to fit a normal bucket seat in the car, and we had to cut out even more of the tunnel to attempt to fit a Halo'd seat. I have the seat as far to the tunnel as it will possibly go, I'm using the 90 degree steel brackets from sparco, and have the tunnel side bracket mounted under the seat to save space.

the current size of my halo section is 20" end to end, I need about 4" to add the bar from the main hoop to the forward down bars. Is anyone using a oddly narrow Halo'd seat, something with a 16" halo section?

I'm not sure which bar you're talking about. If you're talking about the short diagonal that goes from the half-lateral to the main hoop as in 253-31 (from the 2015 FIA Appendix J Art 253), that is an optional bar.

Can you get the seat lower? I don't really like that part of the seat is outside the cage and the codriver's head is roughly in line with the upper part of the main hoop.

What's the driver's side like?

That is crazy. Lots of floor cut out, doesn't look like seat fits for shit regardless. There is a skinny top ProADV available. ProADV TS at 410 mm (16.14"winking smiley.

Can you mount the inside rail just a touch lower than the outside rail so as to pivot the top of the seat a tiny bit? From the pic it sorta looks like the seat it tilting outwards (higher on inside than outside).

Ran into similar issues trying to fit myself into a mid-90s talon earlier this year and that slight tweak seemed to make a difference.

Goodluck... I'm 6'2'' and trying to fit even a regular seat for me in a celica was almost impossible.

And you had the much larger cabin st205 correct?

Grant I'll email you about the TS sparco seat. Is anyone looking for a Sparco Circuit? It's a great seat just wont work for this car.

Dont put a seat with head wings on a car that tight. When the cage is complete and the A pillar support bar is in place, getting in and out of the car will be nearly impossible with a HANS. Imagine if you roll it and are trying to get out of it upside down.

Yep... I think your best bet like you are is getting a non-winged seat. I like the wings (nice headrest waiting for time contorls), but not worth it in that type of car.

Dave K had the right idea about biasing the seat inward. Or try head nets.

BTW, nice metal work.

I'd sell it for $500 + shipping

It also has the memory foam inserts and leg separator bump.
