Portland????

I’m spending a lot more time in Portland these days, well, Vancouver for the next 6 months then the Pearl after that for the foreseeable future. I may drag a couple cars up from Cali so they’re closer to work on and potentially get back out on stage before the end of the decade.

Any shared workspace out there? Decent fab/prep shops? Best cocktails?

Welcome to the area. There are a lot of awesome rally people in Portland.

Finding a shared work space is just about impossible. It's almost all word of mouth. The spot I'm currently in is a shared spot with an asphalt floor, and it sucks.... but it's dry and cheap. We usually have an open spot to work, you're welcome to swing by and use it. Welders and grinders galore, but no lift (stupid asphalt floor!)

cocktails? ne razumem. whiskey i understand. oh and beer too. but cocktails? thank goodness you're moving to the pearl, they have all sorts of weird drinks with multiple ingredients there.

Paul...I was thinking bourbon and whiskey e.g. old fashioned or a manhattan...nothing with an umbrella or raw egg in it!

i like dive bars. try "yur's." it's 16th and irving area, right next to the 405. cheap drinks, nasty bar food, and a quaint smoking alley with awesome graffiti.

Yurs is a fantastic dive. Great tacos on Tuesday, fantastic burgers, and a good selection of beers on tap.

The food/alcohol laws are one of best parts of Portland. Nothing nicer than being able to get decent food just about anywhere anytime.
Is Shanghai'd bar still downtown? I used to go there pretty often when I'd visit.

grant that is a fine, fair question. do you mean the shanghai that was downtown, 4th and ash(ish) that was a basement bar by berbatis pan? if so... i have no idea. i used to play a lot of shows at berbatis in the late 90s, early 00's and we'd always have drinks at shanghai after. when berbatis went away and voodoo donut started culling crowds around the block, i stopped going down there. it was/is a great bar though.

Portland is for weirdo's, the nice people live on the other side of the state.

Over here we train the horses how to get home. That way we can toss the reins and not get pulled over for drunk driving, horse has it handled.

I'm in Vancouver, and have a lift at home, but I also have two roommates that have a car problem (I can't talk, I have a car problem too) so the space isn't open very often. Your little list shows you have an Evo, an Evo would have a much better chance of being allowed in because two out of the three of us are Mistu people
