Been racing wheel to wheel a hole lot longer then running thru the woods. My personal experience says the damage is usually much worse when you screw up in the woods. bent tie rod a few fenders are easy fixes due to others. Point is both can and due wreck cars.

Sure, both can wreck a car, that's easily true.

However, in the woods, no matter what happens, you can only blame yourself.

The same is not true when you are dealing wheel to wheel.

Grassroots rally. It's what I think about.

That's true. Yet I seen a driver get all butt hurt at 100 acre wood because the car behind them was on the same minute and honked his horn to tell him he was wanting thru. Punched his car kicked his door even! I think they just took his license away tho so shouldnt see that again!

Most of my wheel to wheel damage was minimal. Yes you do have to deal with other drivers. I will say after a few events wheel to wheel you learn who to watch out for.

Its easy, make a no contact rule, if you contact you get black flagged and penalized. No rule and someone will try to spin you.

Rally at 90 through trees isnt that risky for 60% of the field. 20% are pushing hard enough for much risk to be involved. The other 20% have cars that probably arent safe driving 20 mph through a school zone. Those we just hope the fire/ball joint/etc. fails at lower speed areas. winking smiley

I don't blame you guys for not wanting to use your rally cars wheel to wheel with all of the of sweat, tears and sooper bitchin suspenders you have into them; but I don't think that's what it's about in the first place. I would think the idea is to buy a shitty little hatchback or volvo, burn a cheap cage in it and rip it around otherwise stock with a stupid grin on your face.

I think in Finland (and JVB will correct me if I'm wrong) they even use rules like "any competitor can buy another competitor's car from them for $XXXX" to stop people from getting carried away.

Norway, Sweden and Finland all have BOTH rallycross and Folkrace..
Rallycross at least in Sweden has more or less 2 classes: "2150 class" and then crazy stuff.

Both look like a shit-ton more action than the vids at the top..

The main problem is INSURANCE and then what organisation, and then what cage rules-- if all the cages are going to cost $3500 that's gonne be a big buzz-kill right there..
And just look how rediculous the cage rules are applied right now..
Its "Eff Eye Eh, Eff Eye Eh!!! All De Way" except they all ignore---in concert, not back accident----

"For cars first homologated 1 Jan 2000 oe earlier, the following elements are required...."

And go straight to the latest WRC spec 2007 and onward requiremnts for the slowest car in the slowest class..

Who knows what rules would be made up for side-by-side action.

Besides, how many have enough dough for 2 toy cars?

Thats not always the case. Plenty of examples out there. One that comes to mind is of 2 russian retards, stopped in the middle of a curve on a night stage and turned the lights off. The car the came from behind smashed into them at full force. It was one of your Rallies by the way winking smiley Or for example, me and Cary Wilburn got stuck in a ditch when Simon decided to take the bark off some trees right when I was about to pass him.

I still prefer rallying over racing.

Yeah, sure, that can happen, but the vast majority of time in a rally you're driving down a road alone.

No, you are never alone, you always have your co-driver.*

*Except in RallyMoto and whatever you call rally without a codriver in NASA.

Tho it sounds like fun we shouldnt promote it because we will lose more rally competaters to rallycross! We all ready lost most of Block and Foust Moro and im sure a few more guys to GRC!
We cant afford to lose more grass root guys!

So yes dont bring your rally car out to a rallycross it will get destroyed! Let the trees do it!

That's pretty accurate. I wonder how many people remember that the GRC evolved from the RA eurorallycross series. What would 2015 be like if they hadn't? Impossible to say.
