RallyCar Suspension Geometry

I have studied and learned suspension geometry, kinematics, and dynamics of race cars. Most of this study is for road cars not rally cars. I have read RCVD and other books but is there a book or any knowledge about setting up a rally car or suspension geometry for rally so that I could learn more. I have been interested in rally and want a good place to start with suspension.

It seems like everytime I do anything rally related I need a 19mm socket. And a jack. Those two things will likely get you 80% of the way.

Become friends with an engineer on a WRC team, or one of the companies that supplies their cars (M-Sport). Look at pictures of cars and ask yourself why they are using certain designs.


Also, forum rules mention that you need to have a real name and location. You read the rules right?

That was Ryan. He forgot his 19 and borrowed mine.
Speaking of, the BMW might need some geometry fixed. Definitely needs top mounts, strut top reinforced and seam welded before I do stupid shit like this again.

Stupid shit? Didn't you end up on the podium?

Also - BMW strut tops are so weak, they sell a weld-in part to fix them. About $10 and you weld them in from the bottom. No sign of any breakage or bending on my car so far.

Bottomed out lightly on our first run Saturday, so decided my back prefers a little speed check before liftoff. Besides...easier to put the powah down when the wheels are touching the ground.
