I heard a rumor that the sweep vehicles were getting stuck about 1km into the upper stages.
Almost every rally car got stuck leaving the garages in the morning and the service park was a disaster until they got a snow plow in there to clean off the extra 8+ inches, that were on top of the already extra 6+inches. The lower stages were a hoot btw! They did get a bit bumpy and icy though, but still fun! |

Lol. Few years ago that was a small issue at sandblast. Everyone got in fine, but leaving... I ended up on the pushing crew of some street car WRX's sitting in sand up to the diffs. Fun times in the dark. I hadn't even thought of the effect of snow on the volunteers. Good call. |

During the volunteer meeting the night before, they'd told us that if we get stuck in the snow getting in that they'd make sure we got a tow back out and to just make sure we dug out around the exhaust :p so it was expected that it may be a little difficult for some to get far enough back off the road. But yeah, if you can't get them in.... Going to/from any of the parking, or our room, etc, I was hoping there was no one coming on some of the intersections because I knew if I stopped I was not getting going again. When it came time to tear down the stage, I went right on by any signs or banner tape that was on an uphill section. |

The TLDR version
Upper stages cancelled because of unexpected levels of snow making the road impassible for volunteers or safety vehicles. Didn't want to, but it was the right choice. Ran lower stages as much as we could to get the stage distance up, ended up something like 25km shorter than planned. Everyone understood and was happy to get the mileage in. Everyone seemed to have fun. Org committee already has a different plan for next year's National event that mitigate everything global warming won't take care of. http://bigwhiterally.com/results/ The last stage was a game changer. Top 4 cars across 44 seconds. 1 second between 3rd and 4th Top 2wd car in 6th overall N/A 2.5RS in 7th 31 starters, 26 finishers (update coming) Of the DNFs... 1 DSQ (change of car) 1 withdrawn (gave up car) 1 engine withdrew 2 electrical failures At the end of the day... bring on the big-boys, looks like the observation went well despite of the challenges we faced. Morison, The No1 yapping ankle biter Chihuahua over the time of this forum is you.
You are not a moderating influence, you are an ongoing scolding drone.. IF your intention was to have a civil caht, then you would have done your cluck clucking and scolding to a large percentage of this person Donkey who is so remarkably similar to you... Al can of course say and edit whatever he wants, he, we, all of us do not need your scolding anybody... ANYBODY if you do as you have done since day 1 and make it your mission to scold just me... That is a very much nicer response that telling you to fuck off.. This requires no comments back. I and quite a few others including people right there in Alberta are tired of your unneeded and selectively hypocritical droning comments. So prevail on your alter-ego Donkey and fellow Albertan to abide by the rules, to come clean and man up and maybe his comments might be taken neutrally. And I am glad everybody had fun, an shame everybody got dumped on---too bad the snow can't be spead out in the season a bit...and this time I will not congratulate anybody because of your boorish scolding ruining every time I do congratulate anybody.. Oh well. The newer, re-subsribed me is really trying to avoid the drama of the older, foolisher, me... but c'est la vie. Or, actually, avoided any scolding what-so-ever and let anything distracting slide without comment or notice. I'll try harder.
