Tad Ohtake, would dolly his FWD escort to events with a 2wd ranger extra cab seemed to do the job well enough. a lightweight trailer well set up would have worked out too i would think. its not far from an astro van towing a trailer.

Dollys for the win.

Simply don't understand the fixation with trailers big enough for D9 Cats

Dolly done me well.

I have hauled a lot with a dolly, and they are pretty good. But some of us use the trailers to haul more than just a rally car. Mine's had multiple SUVs, a few tractors, and 10,000+ lbs of hay on it a time or two smiling smiley

Well I suppose if the subject was what sort of all round industrial level TRAILER is needed then maybe then it would make sense.
But a 3,5 ton capacity to haul a 1200-1300kg rally car----doesn't that seem just a little odd?

Oh, I'd downsize in a heartbeat if I could actually afford something smaller. Sprinter and an aluminum trailer would be awesome....and I could live in the Sprinter. I may have just found the solution to the housing prices in Portland.

what i was looking at this year. Being my first year to rally is. 350 bucks to rent a uhaul. Borrow a friend/family trailer. That is to do about 1000 miles round trip. That is not factoring in anything. Just the uhaul fee. Now if i insured a vehicle like that just for towing purposes i would have to go to a few more rallies a year. If i wanted to sure I could daily a truck/van. For me it won't be worth it to buy a vehicle. I will also be likely to borrow a friends truck when the time comes.

Okay...

so rented an Iveco daily to move houses over the weekend...
2.3l
5 speed with okay gaps for a diesel
3k kg payload

something like 3k kg towing capacity.

loaded it with household goods...

drove 70 k

pulled like a Mack.

drank 12 CHF of 1.46 CHF/l diesel.

more comfy then my volvo.

I want one.

(edit this is a variant of what i drove back in the early 90's pulling a chipper and a load of logs/wood chips every day)

come on North America...

15-18 mpg, doubles as a workshop, or a hotel, or what ever the hell I want to use it for.

26,000 lbs max GVW, or 36,000 lbs combined with a trailer.

I paid the same for it as the retail of the suspenders on the car behind it.

I really enjoy VGT turbodiesel!
