Old airbase in Florida hosting rallycrosses that look more like rallysprints. Here's an incar from its inaugural event:

Here's the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/carlstromring/?fref=nf

And a map of the stage:

Next event will be in April.

I always thought an event in an abandoned subdivision would be fun. Plenty of those nationwide.

Apparently a bunch of circuit cars showed up but didn't run because "it was too rough." Wusses.

Wow. It looks like something they would run in Sweden, but not in the US. Many trees, telephone poles, fences and buildings in the proximity of turns. Who pays for damages if something gets hit?

Well kinda a moot point for a mutual friend who is dying for you to answer if you can help us with a decent head for his No1 engine now in the stand and maybe a 2,2 crank..Bob please check your PM or contact me somehow..Purdy please.

Not sure who pays for damages but someone did take out a pole, grass field caught fire and event was cut short. Had a friend run the event, he did say it was one hell of a course and well organized...

rally gods would turn in their graves if they ever knew Lada's were now part of EU rallying!!!

Not sure why you didn't get my reply. Sent it not long after you inquired.

Anyway, no 2.2 or 2.4 cranks for sale.

I *might* have a 2.2 head in the barn. All my other stuff is packed up in storage. I closed my shop up in November and am currently house hunting out of state. If it's not in the barn then I couldn't look in storage until after the spring thaw.

It doesn't look that rough. Apparently none of those guys ever race at Sebring.

Well derp derp! I'll look for some PMs

I've asked Dave to stand next to this milk crate so I could pull his ears up and say "Don't be greedy! There nice 2.0 cranks all over my kitchen!. Make compression. Find cam! BE HAPPY!!!"

And then a few weeks later "But WHY NOT make a 2,4?"

I'll ask some guys in Sweden.

I'm not saying a 2.4 isn't nice for rallying. Not very revvy but here's the difference.

Really healthy CIH 2.0 litre. 200 hp/155 ft lbs of torque. Gotta buzz it to make it happy. Idles rough too. Nothing to speak of below 4500 rpms.

Same cam/head/carbs on a 2.4 block:
Idles smoothly at 900 rpm. No reason to rev past 7500 rpms ever. Has good grunt from 2000 rpms.
210 hp/200 ft lbs from the same cam and head. Really silly, useable power.
