Thanks Robert
What damper in the back? The one that's in their looks humorously small.

There's not a solid option really. I used some Gabriel Ultras out back, but they only made it 18 months on the daily. They do have free life-time replacement through Autozone. They handled well enough that we've been running them on the rally car with pretty decent success.
The Bilstein HDs for the rear are damped SUPER soft, but they can be revalved.

You can get KYB Gas-A-Just for the rear of a 240.

I take it you have changed your mind on selling it after the tsd?! Future rally car?
I'm torn on the idea of caging it, mostly because it is a proper GT and probably in recoverable shape. The floors are solid, which means there is a solid shell to attach a cage to if I do end up going that route. But, we need more event organizers before I can even remotely think about caging a car.

Cage it! It would be wayyyyyyyyy more better as a rally car than some sorta restoration. Don't get hung up on it being original. You can make it better than the factory did!!!

For now though enjoy it, it looks good. But it would be cool to see you back out on stages, especially in a 240!

Just think...

Not going to rush a decision either way, It'll be fun to get out and have some fun with it in the TSDs. I'm trying to figure out if the car is too far gone for a 'real' restoration or if there is enough there that volvo 'purists' would get pissed at me for 'destroying' a 'survivor.'
I gotta do someting about the springs and maybe even the shocks/struts, and the brakes. After that I have a buddy who can spray it and I'll leave it at that. I'd rather sell it to someone who wants to do the resto, or cage it, than do the build myself. You're first on the list... :-)

I could care less which way you go, cage, restoration, or cinder-blocking it into a canyon for fun...

Screw what the "purists" think.

I generally agree, but in the back of my head is the idea that this car just MIGHT be worth more to the right buyer than it is for me as a 'starter' shell.
Moot point anyway, for now. :-)

Great Trail of the Gnu TSD Rally yesterday. Some electrical gremlins in a section that was filled with water splashes cost us tons of time, but when we weren't fighting those problems we were zeroing checkpoints all over the place...
Great work by the volunteers and organisers... and fun to be back in the driver's seat even if it was 'just' a TSD.
