On TV---new stage review.
June 16, 2016 11:21AM
While we sit and wonder what a Sanctioning body is supposed to do other than cause annoyance and rake in thousands from "sanction fees" in some places, they actually take the time on broadcast TV to review a new stage.. I doan fawkin be-sleeve it...

http://areena.yle.fi/1-3516473

FAST stage.... LOTS of houses off to the side...

How do they do it?

Well, we're not ALL wondering what a sanctioning body does:

http://www.nasarallysport.com/main/what_does_a_sanctioning_body_do
http://www.nasarallysport.com/main/between_the_organizer_and_the_sanctioning_body_who_does_what

But that TV section is pretty neat. I assume they're talking about the stage and what it will be like.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm calling bullshit on this. At worst, I could see someone saying they didn't 'need you' at the event - as in we're OK without you volunteering - but saying you're not welcome at the event is hard to believe.

Call bullshit all you want... It was a crusty geezer been around longer than me who got all pissed about me not loving all the heroes who said it and said "Any car with JVL in it is not going to start at any event I have anything to do with"..or close to that..

Then took his real name down in a gesture of defiance to get banned..

So Skye, the admin, obliged him.

Never have like fighting..I never especially din't like fighting people with personal agendas and vindictive streaks......small men who are big in their little pond--ponds more like one mud puddle in a gravel road...When people who have done just normal fine local small time stuff begin equating that stuff to be equivalent to real professional level--by the commonly accepted notion of what professional means--that you do at an advanced level which pays your rent--or mortgage---then I know there's a lot of unreality working, and when there's unreality in a man's mind, there's no point arguing..

Doesn't matter what I think, doesn't matter what reality is, in this case, the guy is central character in stuff down there, all that makes any difference is what he thinks.

Whatever the fuck your name is, and who I see as some smirking pussy, I said I don't enjoy it..
Didn't say I will not engage slime ball goondahs and keyboard entities like it seems Alberta is infested with...people who seem to come around with no intention of ever competing and just want to act like goneffs..

You need a laugh and can't find anything in your National and provincial politics?
Laugh at optimism, the thought that weasely people might leave or reform--when they realise they add nothing to anything in this field of activity..

Is that clear enough

Except you voluntarily engage (some would say enthusiastically engage) on such a regular basis it really is hard to buy that you don't enjoy it on some level.

I agree with John (and many others) that RallyX doesn't give a lot of transferable skills to a future rally driver. The speeds really are too slow and the surface too different from Rally to really translated.
Computer simulators can teach a few things, but *typically* are a bit off on physics and build up a false sense of security because of the 'reset' button. That said, we know Transport Canada (and FAA) recognize computer simulator flight time towards licensing and that professional racing teams will use simulators for track familiarization and training - but those programs are a couple steps away from 'Dirt Rally.'

Truth is virtually anything that the player can do that is demanding and requires concentration and thinking quicker than the brain allows is good...
I know that for many of the children who play their kiddies videos that they would do as much for their driving and reflexes playing good Table Tennis---and have the real world benefit of some physical workout.

Now maybe its cuase I am a cruusty ol' sea dog that I cannot imagine videos and wawwy-cwoss and being "demanding" or requiring concentration at all...Stage rally hardly requires much---not so much that we can't talk and joke in the car..
All depends on what you are used to.
Do this several times a week for 10 years...

You get used to having to concentrate for THAT kind of brutal performance..the zero to 60 in xx meters...Cars are all slow after that. (Cars we normal humans can afford--sure rallycross cars in the real rallycrosses, they are a smidge quicker...but none of us drive them often enough to form habits)
