Underground Rallies & invite only events?
February 20, 2006 11:29AM
Great forum! I like the smeel of it already.

As the subject states, who among us has planned/run/participated in a unsanctioned event?

I'll start off. I've done all three in the loverly state of Nude Hampster.

I'm all about seat time, I want to go play every weekend if possible, regardless of whether or not there is an event smiling smiley

I'm with you Skye...alls fair in the pursuit of seat time. But what I'm wondering is how widespread and how deep underground are non-sanctioned but definately organized events? One would expect the definition of terms associated with these events like: organization, timing, prizes, purpose, closed road, etc to be rather eh..."loose."

Where are you?

I'm down in Exeter.

I am a fan of doing anything. Hell one more person and we'd have two people to spot while one drove.

Ahhh, gotcha...no no, this is why I started the thread...to find out more about these kind of events...since this forum purports to be the gloves-off, real rally forum, let's see what the group as a whole can conjure up. smiling smiley

Yea, I hear you.

Mind sharing the time/date/location of these events, along with your opinion of them, when the next one is, anything? Invite only as in, if you have to ask these questions, you should know enough to not waste your time doing so?

Who put them on, local boys? Were they running up north basically?

hahahaha. I did try to warn you winking smiley

I ran one of them in southern NH. A very few, handpicked folks, one CAS, winter roads, late at night don't crash and don't get caught. The others that
I've only heard rumor of, never run. There were in upstate VT and one, perhaps a semi-sanctioned event was the Tri-State from VT to ME.

These were all winter events.

Yea, I'm in southern new hampshire, i'm like 15 minutes off the beach.

I have a hard time imagining being able to do something like that down here. Too much heat, too populated to make it very easy. I'm impressed i guess.

Hell Maine is more plausable.

Most of the unsanctioned events I have heard of were in VT and upstate NY and were more like brisk TSD events. A unsanctioned underground flat out rally sounds we have discussed, but the logistics make it impossible to run safely. And I'm not concerned with a team crashing but rather causing some lady in her car to crash with her 11 month old baby. Or head on into her.

Run late at night on little used roads. You can see oncoming headlights from quite a distance. There is no pride in taking out civilians. Also, if everone is radio contact the leading vehicle can warn of dangerous situations. But, I never go truly flat out on a public roads or even stage roads, I guess. I like driving my car back onto the trailer. But you can still get the adrenaline going, driving briskly on back roads, hopefully without maiming too many innocent people.

You guys are talking about unpaved public roads right ?

I like to think there's a distinction between the responsibility level of rallyists and punk ass street racers !
