Is this rally worth $550 plus rally america membership/licensing fees?

Well, I hear the roads are great, but I dunno.

If entry fees keep going up maybe I'll change the suspension pickups and go lap at PIR or something tongue sticking out smiley

Tom, I've been in the mountains there twice for nationals in Enduros and the roads are fun.
But I know Derek has said that he would go again.
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong transits back and forth so the can have headquarters in the place they have it, and some other organisational issues. Maybe Derek will pipe up.

I know he alse said "Say no to RA", and I think I agree.

Oregon Trail is a well run rally with good roads.

It also however has high entry and hotel costs with long transits and a long scedual with a Fri start that requires a long day Fri running well into the night. I am not a fan of PRI, for me it was a lot of sitting on the revlimiter in 5 gear between turns or driving on something like a rally cross in the infield in the dark.

I was not planning on running it this year as there is no point in taking a 2wd car to a national RA event and for club rally there are plenty of other options.

The Verona stages are abrasive and fast. The Tillimok stages are lots of fun technical not un like Crain Creek but up hill. There is a section that is just muder on 2wd cars vs AWD with lots of uphill hairpins that I lose a lot of time on getting back up to speed. If you do not like big cliffs you will not like some of the stages and as far as route book vs notes, if you plan on being competitive you need the notes as there are lots of blind lefts where they all look the same but some are 4's and others are 2's. You will give up a lot of time with out notes for those (or take a lot or risk)

I would rather run Merrit, dryad, wild west, olympus, pacific forest and DooWops if it came down to a choise between rallys, so I rank it last in the NW. Nothing wrong with the roads just the rest of it.

Derek

In the long run reality always wins.
