Competetors are the clients

Given that I have many ways to spend my money and time I think the sanctioning bodies need to get off their high horses and deliver what the competetors want - today not some mystical gen Z in the future or near bankrupt car maker.

Rules should be more about education than prescriptive force to do things one way. What silly idea that we can not make 4WD RWD etc.

What is this about wings need to be homologated?

Lots of unnessasary rules.

This year I only do NASA events, they at least have listened to me when I called and made logical changes when asked. They also have not treated me like one of the unwashed at events.

I think, we are missing one small detail though.

We need to make it public why we decided not to run R/A rallies. If we simply don't show up at their events we will not accomplish anything.

I was asked last night to email Doug Haviar directly and let him know my thoughts. I think we could write a group letter all append our names and send it off.

I think this would be best if the names attached happened to have run events in SCCA, NASA or RA.

I also hear although we have Ray Hocker here in the west who is very supportive John S at NASA is not as easy to work with, more like RA. So east coast teams might have another perspective.

When SCCA gave us the Heave-ho I managed to find an insurance carrier who was willing to cover rally.....
What does the 'Sanctioning body' deliver that we cannot be without? INSURANCE.
What else do they do that is sooooo important? Rules. Sofuckingwhat!!

Once I'm out of Seattle this could get put on the front burner if we as a group care enough.

Show of hands?

We need not put up with these pricks' shit.

What *do* competitors want, exactly?

(asking because it might be easier to deliver if "it" was stated)

When I'm wearing my 'Competitor Sweatsuit' I'm wanting an affordable fun event to play at with good roads.

Ray's event comes immediately to mind. For those of us in Rio-Linda that would be Doo-Wops.

Ok, it seems like Ray is already delivering that. Are there other events (I'm not familiar with the tone/atmosphere of the NW events) that don't? If that's all that's required from the sanctioning body, seems like the problem is solved.

Derek seems more worried about car build issues. Is that really the only issue? My experience has been that competitors don't worry about any of the rules related to how an event runs, even though they take up a larger amount of the rule book. (Well, until after they get some esoteric penalty or stuck with Force Majore. winking smiley )

Cheers,
Anders

Rules are always a point of contention. Overall I think less rules is better both on the car and on the event side.

Guidelines are nice to have but rules can limit good ideas.

In the long run reality always wins.

The worst is when the reasons for the rules are mysterious!

I can imagine what fewer rules on the car side would look like, but I'm interested to hear what rules on the event running side you would remove/alter.

Cheers smiling smiley
