I have thought about something with a 9 cly radial say 360 HP at 2900 RPM can you say tq? that works out to about 650 ft/labs. It would have a empty weight of about 2050 Lbs. Top speed would be about 160MPH.

It looks like the whole golf is going to NJ.

We will see if money shows up.

Planes are cool but you really haven't rallied until you have run some fun RWD. I used to run that Sentra and worry about how I finished to have a good time. I thought I knew fun. Now I just throw roosters and make me some sweet romance to the stages. You owe it to yourself to Group F up in the most baddest assest way.

Man am I profound. It really is like this FWD you have to fight the roads, RWD you are just given em lovin'

I have not done an Immelman but have done a rudder reveral where basically we do the start off the Immelman and then put the rudder over in the climb to drop the plane down on one wing and wow like in 2 plane lengths we turn around. A good thing to know if you fly up a box cannoyn but not so good if someone is behind shoting at you.

I was thinking of the M14p on the front of a Murphy Moose with floats.

I flew a Pilatus PC12 the other day 1200HP is nice! First time I had to worry about busting the speed limits.

Belive it or not I have rallyed in RWD. If you look long and hard back to the 1980's you will find me driving an RX2 at the age of 19. I have also spent some time in a Turbo Volvo, a Toyota Celica and a 510. I have photos at my office of me wheeling the 510 around some linked turns.

Once the Capri is finished I'm gonna use the RX7 to rehabilitate you. I know how it is after a good wreck where you just aren't all that happy with yourself. But you gotta show rally that you are smarterthan it is, or dumber than it is, and get back out there. You are making me nervous. You can't hit trees with your plane eh you know

Yeah well he goddamn well better not! He knows better than to trty to fly through those portions of the atmosphere occupied by hard objects. He does that, and lives, there will be a whole line of people waiting to kick his butt...

Way to go on that landing btw dude.

You can indeed hit trees with a plane, but you hit them on the other end, very similar to rallying, it is not a recommended procedure though.

So, what's the motivation. This is a similar scenario to Ron Nelson. Has a sweet Evo 7 RS. Rolls it 1.5 years ago. Never fixes it and starts flying planes instead. Maybe I'm young and inexperienced and never flown myself (outside of a commercial flight) so can't and won't be able to understand.

My guess is it has to do with accessibility (can fly more and for cheaper), status symbol (face it, flying your own plane is cooler in most people's eyes than driving a rally car), and the enjoyment.

I guess kind of relates back to my friends that have been riding dirt bikes for the last 7 weeks and aren't rallying at all this year (well, they'll both codrive a few events, but last year were both driving). Their statement is, "It's got the acceleration of a Group B car but only two wheels and we can go out and drive it every weekend. If we beachball and totally destroy the bike, we go buy a new one for $3000."

Grant, right there you just encapsulated why in MOST of the world rally is an OLDER guy sport.
When one is younger and dumber and stronger and MOST people don't have a lot of dough, a bike is arfully attractive.

Later, when you're all pudged out, and the ol brain if full of chalk, and you just want to piddle around, and the kids are grown, the putzing with cars makes some sense.

I mean look at MANY of the younger guys who do this stuff in the US: stiff and rigid and conerned with their "image" and they sound like old assholes.
(Truth is since they are formless spineless twerps, unconciously indentifying with what they think is "the majority" or "most people" they are aligning themselves or sheilding themselves with "power" of the (percieved) majority (and thereby hoping their patheticness is hidden in the mass).

Now here and there there are some guys actually just trying to get out there and wail and not present a big "front".

You know who I mean...

Anyway, gooddamn good dirtbikes are the biggest threat to the growth of rally.
They're too much fun.
And event bike events cost a fraction of car events.
