Ummm....no.

First of all, unserialized parts can be sold and traded by anyone. You can regulate a receiver, but not the exotic wood stock for your old Mauser.

Secondly, Licensed FFL's (Both 01 and 03 varieties) may conduct business via the net, mail, etc. License info is exchanged and if the buyer isnt a licensed agent, they have a local dealer conduct the background check for them for a nominal fee. (I usually get it for 10% or $25, whichever is greater).

From paypal: "...This includes the sale of any parts or accessories prohibited for sale by the National Firearms Act or other federal or state law"
Which would be fine except in states like Kalifornia or Taxechusetts, the laws extend to anything "black" and "evil" looking. Including a graduated sight for a 108 year old bolt action rifle.

No kidding.

They're not into the sales, they're into Brady and the Joyce foundation for over a million a year.
The Law protects the seller in most cases, look at how difficult it is to prosecute gun shop owners (crooked or not).

Almost forgot, the curio and relic (C&R) firearms license is available so that you can collect firearms older than 50 years, and have them delivered to your home. Ask me how I know smiling smiley

Well I see that it's not only an issue your personally passionate about but also personally involved in. From the emails I'd guess you have a hobby collecting old guns and selling parts and/or guns for oldies. I guess I understand not using Paypal for that reason in your case. It's the same as why I won't shop at Wal Mart, don't eat McDonalds, and many other places I chose to not give my business to.

Personally though, it's not really an infringement on a right, but a policy that a company has chosen to take and support with financial contributions. If you don't like it you don't support them and you do support companies that share your viewpoint. Capitalist democracy at work in some regards. The ones that really scare me are the current real infringements on rights from the Bush administration. Well, actually I guess I am too busy drinking beer, working on cars, and working to care that much now that I think about it. But it's kind of frightening when I do.

Nothing finer than a hundred plus year old machine that still works! smiling smiley No selling for me, just wood refinishing and collecting. I had my sights set on an 1871 jager.....but this rally thing is really getting my attention.

Unless they give moolah directly to lobbyists that support laws to restrict your rights.

Question- How is Ebay supposed to know if the part is unserialized or not? Remember it' not just Federal Law you're dealing with, but state law as well. I don't know all state laws, but some probalby come into conflict with selling guns on the internet.

True, but again how is Ebay to know that this is happened. They probably are overreacting to the preception of liability, real or not. I'm not a lawer either.

Evilbay has plenty of problems, but I don't see getting bent about this one. What are things like in WI? Washington State, I know, has some of the most liberal gun laws in the country. I lived in an "open carry" county for 6 years. And the county to the east all but publically encouraged it. This is a blue state that went for Kerry in 04'.

I don't know all state laws either, but if I am either driving through a state to get to the next rally, or selling a product via any medium to a resident in that state, ignorance (non knowledge) of a law is not an excuse for breaking one. Its the price of doing business. Its why big business has big time lawyers.

As for serialization, the law defines it for everyone.

I do. But I direct my angst at Paypal, not ebay. Not that I shop much on Ebay either.... smiling smiley

Also, I wouldnt be bent out of shape at all if they didnt give over a million a year to lobbying groups that persue anti-gun agendas and laws.

Amen, brother. There are studies in the works which will observe the affect proximity to Wal-Mart has on the intelligence and hygeine of humans. At least there will be when the government gives me that seven figure grant to hook that up.

I was just curious, along the lines of the original topic, supposing I wanted to share that I knew someone in the Phoenix area that is looking to sell a rebuilt Mitsubishi 4G63 long block, but wanted to give RA people first dibs at it, where would I post such a thing?

Thanks
