Doug and Daryl Vanlandingham, former co-driver and once service crew who got lost for 15 hours, both died in a crash in Neveada or Utah or someplace horrible on Dec 23.
Doug was driving a motorhome and fell asleep, crossed the centerline and hit a truck.
Daryl, and Dougs wife Lynn and 13 year old son Soren were all sleeping and Daryl was thrown clear and killed.
Lynn and Soren are in the hospital in Salt Lake City.
The driver of the truck was also killed.
Doug was an avid Enduro rider, and co drove 4-6 events for me in the late 80s/early 90s where he had a good time and lots of adventures, some from his difficulties with left and right, some from Daryl driving all the way to Astoria once rather than the 13 miles to the service area from where we were in Aberdeen.
Terrible way to die.
Stay awake friends.
