The piccies of the ball joints and brake lines...

Do you have any suggestions on what they are ?

Are the brake lines a stock Toiletta part or a custom fab ?

The ball joints, can you remember what they're from ?

That loos like M10x1 thread so that is no doubt a custom line, Jeff Feet was doing crimped customs back then from "Earls" despite me yapping about the problems of replacing crimped style.

Find what the thead is M10 x 1 or M10 x 1.25 and get a "male-male M10 to -3 adaptor then make up a replacement HOSE (these are brake HOSES, brake "LINES" are the steel pipes) with -3 (read as "dash 3" the hoses are done in 1/16 increments so -3 is 3/16th and is nearly 100% automotive, forget other suppliers)

They're no doubt stock Mitsubishi.

A beer doesn't make up for your not paying for a car finished on Mar 9 and not payed until 40 nasty emails full of stupid things were sent back and forth.

Do you recall what model / approximate year that the ball joint would have been from ?

I would like to bury the past.

You said that a beer won't make up for it, how few beers and a big fat bbq'ed porterhouse with bernaise sauce ?

I went to Greenline, they usually have everyrthing or can make it for you.

But they didn't have the diameter same braided teflon hose or the right fittings.

You could always go to a junkyard and look under lots of different Mitsus ... it's probably on lots of different years and models.

Or go to www.rockauto.com, they have lots of picts of parts. For the ball joint that is.

We have a shop in town called "House of Hose". They rock the mike; or is it mic? Whatever. I've been to the chain, Parker Hose, they have all the fancy Earls A/N parts and such, but they couldn't make me a brake line either. If you get the dementions, hose length and diameter, thread pitch, etc. I could check HOH for you.

Good advice Skye, but Mitsubishi hasn't been in Canada for that many and there's not much at the wreckers. My car was built in 87 so the ball joints predate the dealerships in Canada, so not much at the wreckers at all except for what was imported from the US by individuals.

But if John can remember what the front susp. came out of, then I'll be miles ahead in my search.

I've got a line on the brake hose, I'm going to take a looksie tomorrow. Although the hose I tracked down is for a toiletta with a 4 inch lift, 22 1/2" hose.

Morten,

There are lots and lots of mitsu's in Canada.. they just happen to be badged as chrysler products. For most of the years that Mitsubishi didn't have dealerships in Canada, Chrysler owned a large stake in the company and rebadged most of their lineup. The companies started flirting in 1969 and Chryslyer bought a large stake in Mitsu in 1971. Your Colt is a Mitsubishi.

If your car has the front end from a later RWD Mitsu product.. my guess would be it's a RAM 50 or a Plymouth/Dodge Arrow.

Arrows were good rally cars as you probably know.

I did realize that the Colt is a rebadged Mitsubishi Gaylant.

In my car though... it's a synergy of parts.

The lower control arms are not stock and appear to have been reworked. The problem that I'm having is that when I take it to a shop in town or a parts supplier... nobody seems willing help to "guess" what they are.

Which is why I'm here trying to get direction on the source of them.

I hear you. JVL says they are a mitsubishi ball joint. So I'd say they would have come out of a heavier duty mitsubishi.. try the RAM 50 (a light duty pick up truck), the Plymouth Arrow, or a Mitsubishi Starion. All of which are larger vehicles. Also the 80's dodge chargers are of mitsu strain. And just about everything Eagle is a mitsubishi. A good Chrylser mechanic should be able to identify it in 10 seocnds.

The reason why people arn't willing to help you is a combination of laziness and hastle if it's the wrong part. You could remove a ball joint and bring it in to a good parts shop and compare with the above information. As long as they have things in stock you're laughing. I imagine a good chrysler group dealership will have ball joints for a few older mitsu products.

I have good friends in high parts places which make my life a lot easier. If I call one of the parts houses and don't get a friend when asking for a part I get "sorry....." but a friend will say "Andrew, I'll call you back in a bit after I've got some leads".. I guess I'm just saying they come in handy.
