I think you would have some fun if the crankshaft is in perfect shape.
But they never are.
A V4 on the other hand is easy parts and easy power.

We'd ridicule you if you were to do something JVL didn't instruct you to do. Other than that no problem. Listen to JVL he knows that strange contraption better than the Swedes who invented them (BTW those guys are all dead). grinning smiley

JV should sell you his 96 project parked at my parents' house in Nude Hamster, but he wants it out in Washington. Runs great, custom New England oxidation based chassis lightening program! Somebody must want to drive it cross country in the winter across the great plains, really.

My father was muttering about the 96 again today...only supposed to be here a month or two, and $400 "storage fees", so get me those parts so I can at least drive it out of his yard and park it at Graham's or my place! Although two derelict Saabs in my yard will make my wife "not happy." At least yours starts, the 900 and its %@^#@%ed up CIS either catches the first crank or floods. Usually it floods.

Old SAABs, Corvairs and broken refrigerators are often used by the locals to house naughty pets, small children who don't sleep through the night and empty aluminum cans waiting to be recycled. They're fun to shoot at, too. But get the German Shepards out, before ya pepper 'em. Just got to keep all but one
(of the cars) registered to meet State statute.

I can see a business oportunity now "North Pack POD Rental" ;-)

Tedneck (my wife prefers that you refer to us as "Apalachian Americans"

Or, buy my Saab Sonett chassis and drop your drivetrain in it.

Great idea! the Sonett has such a rich and long history as a sucessfull rally car spanning decades with victories in all the major Rallies from the 60s thru the 80s.

We'll ignore the bagatelles that with a flimsey chassi and a fiberglass body, and sub 92" wheelbase that not only would it be uselss, but it would never be able to be logbooked.

Sterling advice as always, just what we'd expect from a service writer, and a co-driver.
Thanks!

Or you could get a 96 for JVL to build and let it rot in his driveway after he had painted your block florescent booger.
