51.88 and 65.74

32 miles and 41 miles... Wow... thumbs up Now that's a stage!

i think i start to lose focus a little bit after 18 to 19 miles , though with a cool suit , and no exhaust fumes in the cabin I might be able to go a lit further before my mind wanders ..

I wonder if the longer stages will favor anyone who doesn't usually win? hmmm

That's sweet. tough stages and tough transits... :p maybe loeb will skip this round since he will have to spend so many days away from his family... :p

I like for rallies to have some long transits... at the ... 2010? Idaho rally I was saying how the transit simulated not having a trailer ... hehehehe It also had one they called "a goats trail" nothing too crazy.. my rally car sat a bit lower than most (probably lowest at that event) And i made it just fine... we have Skid plates and what not...

do others not like that kinda stuff? I do... grinning smiley

You should come to Rocky this year then!
Lots of transits and two back to back 34km long stages. :-)

if anyone with a stage car complained about that...

I drove it running psuedo-advance-volunteer-coordinator-getting-marshals-placed in a bone stock (no skid plates) Honda Fit. Other than the grade/speed sitting right in between 1st and 2nd gear, it was really no problem.

The looks we got from the group of 4 jeeps as we turned onto that road (that they had just come down) was priceless though.

The only complaint I had from Idaho was the super long transit that was also very rough. at 30-35 mph in the rally car it was borderline torchure. I have done 8 hrs on a dirtbike at race speeds, and that transit was worse....

Loeb said he would retire if the longer rally theme was continued. I think that it is a great idea (retierment and long rallies). The WRC rallies have become sprints and this has bread a certin mentality among the teams. What happened in Portugal is a perfect example.

That goat trail was crazy we were really late and had to go faster than I wanted to down that, it was a pretty good view though...

Ya those were 2 great transits , IMO. IIRC there was a long winding dirt road that followed the river. (it was an optional recce route ) and at the end of that it turned up the goat trail.

I didn't really think it was that rough, but i do a lot of adventure driving in my free time.

I LOVED that lay out. it gave the rally more of an adventure / endurance feeling to it ..

Adventure driving: roads too rough to be a stage, but too smooth for a jeeper to 'crawl' through it. though i usually see some lame lame off roaders on these types of trails.

Who likes transits? Can't you just go out on any given day and transit around town or run a TSD? Long stages, sure.

I agree KT. If transits intrigue you, drive your rally car to work.
