Found this somewhere else, probably old news. Might be fun, price is right!

Where else in the world can you open up your performance car on a public highway for 500 miles under the protection of the highway patrol? Viva Mexico!

On April 20-22, 2007 modern and vintage high performance cars will line up in Chihuahua to rip across the county side on closed highways at speeds upwards of 200 MPH. It’s the first annual “Chihuahua Express” — three days of open-road racing very close to the USA.

Chihuahua City is only 220 miles south of El Paso and 140 miles west of Presidio, Texas. The landscape is arid, with rolling hills and canyons. There are good roads and few towns to slow the cars down.

Entries will be divided into several classes — based on displacement, induction, and modifications — for competitive purposes. But the idea is to spend three days driving your car as fast as you want through the twisty canyons of northern Mexico and not be far from the States. Oh yes, you can dispense with your radar detector.

Of course, there will be “duels in the desert,” as old racing buddies square off to capture trophies for class and overall wins and bragging rights.

Veterans of the famous La Carrera Panamericana will use this event as a tune up for their main event in October since the Express will run under the same pro-rally rules. Some of their classic hotrods are capable of sticking with the modern Vettes and Vipers.

A six-point roll cage is required for competition. A few “Tour” cars–without roll cages–will be allowed to run the course at reduced speeds and lower entry fee.

The entry fee for competition is only $750, or $1100 with three nights of luxury hotel rooms at the Soberano Westin included. Where else in the world can you run flat out for three days, over 500 miles, for $250 a day? You may also run one day or two days.

This is a 22 hour tow from us. We are seriously thinking about it.

"Now, Pinky, if by any chance you are captured during this mission, remember you are Gunther Heindriksen from Appenzell. You moved to Grindelwald to drive the cog train to Murren. Can you repeat that?" - The Brain
