I just spent a week in Australia. Didn't see a single Fosters! I think Fosters is Australian for 'crappy beer we don't drink!'
Flying over it looks like a great country for Rally. Not many people. Sorry about the car. The worst about crashing it is all the lost money and time.

I was "the shoulder" to lean on a sniffle for a mate from OZ---if you consider Perth still to be Oz--- cause he was living and working in the local Swedish economy--if fact he worked for Kent Öhlin right when they were gearing up to begin making shocks-----and he was bummin cause Swan's had a policy then if youse was Ozzie working for an Ozzie company overseas, they'd send you a case of Swan's for your birthday, but working as he was for a Swedish company---no deal..
And if you think Foster's is bad, Swedish beer is something I'd give my dear girls 6 1/2 and 81/2 for brekkie...Weak, tasteless, aroma-less, bland, after-tasteless--perfectly suiting the personality of the average local.

And poor Alan liked his beer...a lot!!!
As much as we tried we couldn't figure a way to create a company there to get a case...
He even called a few Aussie companies local and begged...
I think there were some genuine tears shed at some point ( lotta bear involved, long way from home, furrin ways, and useless beer, any man would cry)

You mention replacing the helmet. Did it take a hit and was it damaged?

The helmet had been in one big one before, has done about 40 events, getting close to retirement age.
I noticed a small bruise on the back of my head(meaning the internal foam has done it's job)

Also has a tiny 1/8" round chip in the outer case now.

So I figure it's time to make it a spare for ride days etc.

Continuing to add to my crash tally.
Yesterday I got to watch my driver airlifted to hospital :-(
Running 4th outright at beginning of day and only 15 sec between 3rd and 6th everyone was pushing hard.

We realised at 160kph we had a problem and weren't likely to make the next corner, driver slowed it down to 80 kph before aiming it off the road straight.
Down a 3-4m drop into a paddock, big impact when we landed then slid to a halt on 3 wheels.

This rally was using rallysafe GPS tracking systems which recorder the big gforce impact and automatically informed HQ, I used it to confirm we needed medical assistance as the driver had lower back pain.

Medical team arrived and he was extracted from the vehicle on a spinal board and flown to hospital for xrays etc. Luckily he was okay with only muscle damage and released that night.

We know it's dangerous, but I'm glad of recent developments in safety for our sport. HQ already had medical on the way before the next car was on the scene. I was wearing the carbon stilo and Simpson hybrid pro and walked away.
The driver had a reasonable helmet and Hans device on too. We think that a fencepost struck his floor/seatmount as he felt a big impact through the seat, which caused his issues.

I have a stiff neck but nothing too major.

Anyhoo the car was a white nissan S13 Silvia and we we landed in a diary cow paddock, I think I should avoid white cars and milk!

As for my poll, strangely I was most pissed at the DNF and car damage.

Yeah not thats it's a be all end all,and probably is very expensive, but knowing the history of certain rally crashes and injuries over the years..I'll bet one might be pretty happy to have it when it's their turn for a spectacular off...

We made a mistake writing our notes we had
10R 200 9L Go 100 6L

Should have had
10R 200 9L then brow brake 5L

Also driver didn't hear/take in the 6L and by the time I realised and called it again, with urgency, it was too late and it wasn't a corner you could go wide on.

The rally safe unit adds about $ 100 aud to the entry fee
