so to speak.

Olympus Rally is going back into the RA family of events. This will occur now and the 2014 Olympus will be a Rally America regional and back as a National in 2015.

Any competitor who bought a single event license for Oregon Trail will be allowed to use that license at Olympus.

The entry system has changed back to RallyData.com, which is what we were using when entry opened initially. I am looking into migrating the entries that aren't already in RallyData.

RA reached out to Steve at Oregon Trail and after a lot of discussion amends were made . Sometimes a face to face conversation is the only way to get stuff accomplished. Emails are so impersonal. RA ( Bill Fogg) has changed his views and was willing to work with Olympus to bring the event back. Olympus squeaked by last year and this year is still unknown. The committee feels that the National entries and associated hoopla are needed to keep the event going. A lot of us miss our out of area friends that we've made also.

DooWops ..one of the best regional events ever..was on the edge of disaster financially when Ray quit. Ron Barker lost money the next year and the event was shelved. Ray fought hard to keep the event going when he had it and spent a massive amount of energy working on it. The entries kept dropping and costs rising.

While it is fun for some to sneer at the bigger teams and newer cars they are an integral part of the sport and the added revenue and excitement keeps events healthy AND available to the 'grass roots' regional guys. One of the Olympus sponsors has been All Star Ford in Olympia. They honestly don't get much bang for their buck without the National entries. Tim Oneil was out here fo OT with 2 tow rigs and 5 cars this year, that would be pretty impressive at a local Ford dealership.

Every event has different needs, operating logistics and focus (teehee) . Olympus felt that for them and you it is the right move.

I'm terribly sorry that my email didn't get thru to Kris. I tried to give him as much notice as possible after the decision was made.

Thanks to Mike Gibeault putting in a late night, the entry system has been switched back to Rally Data and most of the entries migrated over.

There were six entries that had insufficient info to migrate, so those people will need to enter again. I think Jay's was one of them, but he entered through Rally Data this morning. If you entered Olympus, please check the Rally Data entry list to confirm that your entry has been migrated correctly.

We sent e-mail to the competitors who have entered explaining the situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Note that you may get a quicker response if you e-mail us directly rather than post here or on FB. My e-mail is alanp@snowmoose.com.

... it's too bad Christine Marciniak spent a few late nights getting all the information entered for racers only to have Mike Gibeault put it all back.

At least all the racer information will be current for NRS events.

I appreciate the work that she did as well.

I was asked about my opinion about this, but wasn't involved in the discussions since I was competing at Oregon Trail. Olympus has some relatively high fixed costs and the length of the entry list has been marginally (or worse) as far as covering those costs, so, just from that perspective, it seems like a clear choice.

That will be a good addition to the national calendar for next year. Understandable why an organizer would make that move.

Now if Bill Fogg can work that same magic on the Rally Colorado organizers... That is an example of an event that lost sponsors and couldn't exist anymore without the big show.

Just got off the phone with Gene -
This was a total surprise for us, and I expressed to Gene my disappointment in this last minute change. Christine and I were looking forward to this event
