So we can all pretty much agree Biden is an idiot with some very bad ideas.

Modern police tactics, weapons and training. Hollywood wasn't a unique situation and certainly not the last to happen. While I think our State Patrol is a ways over the top , and they can't get an adequate number of recruits because of that, it is mandatory that LEOs be ableto match or exceed the firepower they face on the street. They need to be 'big' enough to command respect and to handle the situation when respect isn't what comes their way. They need cohesive training to ensure their safety, each others safety and our safety. I have 2 friends that were cops that took lives. One retired right after the incident from the mental 'stress', the other retired years later after a great career. Both went home the day of the incidents. My next door neighbor is a trooper and a friend. I worry about him often and am relieved when I see him come home at night. They face heavily armed gangs, kids, driggies, angry people and just plain crazies. Many have paid the price in injury or death. There are always a few bad apples in any barrel, but police nation wide are just normal people doing a very needed job and they don't get paid near enough for the risk or crap they face daily. Just like our military, coasties (we're boaters), firemen and the millions of people who put themselves in harms way to serve the public in some fashion.

John, mellow out on this one.

.

Andrew, I'm quite mellow, socially retarded children living at home in the burbs don't wind me up, all that was said in a normal, albeit contemptuous tone, as i would answer anybody in their 20s lecturing anybody---including other punks in their 20s..

Love the piccie..
Did you know that those films were documentary films? We've made bombers rolled from newsprint.. Gi-gantor bombers---somebody had just imported a couple of kilos, and Shirley I could not say who but holy fawk..
Try two cupped hands ful striaght into a giant pot of pretty damn tasty spaghetti sauce...
we were soooooooooooooooooooooooo stoned!
(sotto voce offstage) How stoned were you?

We were so stoned when we went riding in some dried out resevoir the next day that when we got into some slick mud, we balsted all the way thru the gears, full gas in 5th---while standing still it was so slick..Then we both crashed, still standing still from uncontrolable laughter..laid in the mud howling with laughter who knows 10? 20? minutes..
we were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stoned, dude.

Oh by the way, can you find a similar poster for
Cops Guide to Firearm Identifcation?

Here's some of the things I recall they said as justification for filling somebody full of lead---

And to think, they're trained, they supposedly are in high stress situations enough that you'd think they'd have some grip in scart situations, but NOOOoooooooooooooOOOOOO, blaze away first "testi-lie late" I tought he wuz reachin fo a gun, so we filled him wif lead. We kept on pumpin till da perp was a-slumpin"

Hee hee on the wallet and cell phone as firearms. You know that's two different planes of stupidity. Liberal journalists (which is kind of redundant except for Faux News) fail to edumacate themselves on firearms (local semi-weekly paper kept mentioning a woman's "Walter" pistol in a story about firearms...fawk me, if you're gonna write about firearms, spend a little time on Google or something), then they just look like this:

Most people know less than they want to admit when talking about firearms. I don't know much, but I can at least use Google for a second opinion if I'm not sure of something and come out with a slightly more informed position.

Then there's law enforcement. There's a good portion of them who are 'roid raging ex-military (or they wish they were ex-military) who enjoy being bullies. There's also some who enjoy their daily coffee and doughnuts, running radar traps and chasing the same ten morons in town who do 90% of the crime. And there are some who just want to be good public servants regardless of the political bullshit they have to deal with daily.

Unfortunately, our State Militias (National Guard) keep getting used to fill in troop shortfalls in land wars in Asia, so now the local police end up being equipped like military units. Such a waste.

It doesn't take but a few episodes of any reality ride along tv show to realize that for every one shot for pulling a lighter there are dozens who should just be shot for being stupid...

There was a new kid cop in a town closeby here, really had the Wyatt Earp syndrome. Pissed off all the locals. One night a few of them beat his ass badly and locked him in the trunk of the squad car. Guy had it coming honestly. I can't remember what they did with his guns, souveniers or returned them. Anyhow he quit the force and went to a different small town force with a much better understanding of getting along with people in general.

Lucky kid. I have a family member (he married into extended family) that got booted off the police force for being a dumb fuck power trip dick. The best was the woman he pulled over for "swerving" at 7 am as she was on her way to work at the hospital in her SUV in 40-50 MPH winds, then accused of being drunk, then gave her a breathalyzer, which she passed, so he proceeded to arrest her, cuff her, and take her to the hospital, march her through the front doors in cuffs (where she worked recall) to have her give a blood sample, took her back out and to the city jail. Poor girl was super traumatized from it and the city will end up paying a nice settlement on that one. Dumb fucker. He's been unemployed for last year or two since. Other department in town finally told him to quit trying, they were never going to hire him.

Something that has recently bothered me is: I'm being told I need to CC to protect myself, my family, and all the other white people in my town from all the baddies out to get me and my family. I'm also told that all these piece of crap thugs on the southside of Chicago are packing heat.

So since they are all packing, why isn't the southside of Chicago one of the safest places in the country? Why aren't all these gun totein' gentlemen true patriots? They're just exercising their 2nd amendment rights?

Are you retarded? Are you suggesting that the criminal element (that doesn't care if it breaks laws) isn't conforming to some romantic preconceived notion of gentlemanly behavior with intensive love for their country? Or are you asking some type of metaphysical question as to why you haven't yet reached enlightenment and perfect total security no matter what hood you live in or what changes are around the corner?

Its still illegal to carry in Illinois. The state legislature was given a court judgement that they need to craft a law within 180 days or Illinois will be carry without need for permit. Therefore, the only folks carrying right now are your 'baddies' and the cops.

And you wonder why you haven't been able to enjoy the reduction in violent crime that the rest of us have had? Worry not. May/June will be here before you know it. And no matter what they tell you, not one state that has gone to legal carry has experienced the sky falling, blood overflowing storm sewers, or the OK corral.

Damn you all are sensitive. Compensating much? What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I'm sure you would agree that, since we're not all that concerned about the whole "well regulated militia" part, unless we're counting the 7th Missouri and 17th Wisconsin, that you would support laws allowing any decent person to carry, concealed or open.

It seems clear to me that more armed people make everyone less safe. I'm sure there are plenty of law abiding citizens that carry for their own safety, even in the face of local and state laws prohibiting it. You should be supporting them! Even if, heaven forbid, they live in Chicago.

It's just wrong headed. Highly trained LEO's barly average 70%, and routinely fire dozens of rounds at suspects to possibly hit them a couple times. But I'm supposed to think arming Ms. Lewis, the 63 year old 2nd grade teacher is going to make the local elementary school safer?? Columbine High had an ARMED security officer. The newest national surveys show that only 24% of Americans own a gun and only 35ish% of Americans live in a household with a gun in it. You are in the minority,(the same minority I am in).

We have every right to have laws limiting what weapons Citizens can own. You can't own a RPG, You can't own a M16 or a BAR. You can't own a fully loaded M1A1 or an Apache attack helicopter. I don't think you should own a AR15, SKS or a Glock with a 30 round clip. Guess what, those are items that have no purpose but to kill people, as many as possible as quickly as possible. It is pure unadulterated bullshit that you need those things for hunting, recreation or home protection. You WANT them because it make you feel like a Big Man, and stokes your fantasies of "Watering the Tree of Liberty". But what really happens is someone in your household is at statistically significant greater risk of being accidentally shot or die by self inflected gun shot. Sometimes the truth's a Bitch. Man up and Grow up. Put the toys away for the greater good.

actually you can legally own an M16 and a BAR. They are just damn expensive and have a higher level check up with the government, and an additional tax stamp thing.

I'm not going to bother responding to your rabid propaganda that you have gotten from some anti gun bunch.

I will address two things you wrote:

1. Met with my local Democrat Rep yesterday. He is NOT a gun owner. He told me our Connecticut congressional district has 70-80% gun ownership. We have a very low crime rate.

2. As for your point about guns used for suicide or killing someone in a household... don't buy a gun since you are apparently not mature enough to be trusted with a firearm.
