Cheapest lunch physically possible in America???
August 20, 2013 02:03PM
Ok. My dad said I can buy a Volvo as soon as I save $250 for a down payment. The problem is, I usually eat lunch at Clarkson, and I have to buy my own food. What are my options for lunch? My budget is every penny counts.

White bread and peanut butter. Ramen Noodles.

$250 for downpayment? Is he loaning you the rest? You can't borrow money from anywhere else to buy old Volvos. Parent banks are the best source for loans like that though!

Yep. Taking out a loan from the 1st Bank of Parents. Just like Mitt Romney told me to.

Why just focus on lunch money? Plenty of ways to raise $250.

  • Sell your body to science
  • donate plasma...just don't try to bike 5 miles home afterwards!
  • raid the frat's trash for beer cans (NY deposit $0.05 per can, right?)
  • start a rally club and get school funding to pay for it, loads of $$ spent on those autox thingies.
  • kickstarter campaign yo!

If you want cheap lunch suggestions, I think my personal favorite amongst the ski bum crowd I went to school with was: if the place has freebie saltine packs (on soup days?), mix that with hot water and some catsup. Gross!

Mc double dressed like a Mac. $1.50 you'll be sick for 5 hour increments so 4.50 a day on long ones.

Safeway dumpster, or whatever you have for chain crocery store. Massive amounts of good food is tossed every day.

Tell your dad if he floats the whole loan you'll quit trashing the bottom of his van. much cheaper for him.smiling bouncing smiley

Then he would go all privilege not right on me and just demote me to my BMX bike again. Which is fixed, and good exercise but still.

For food: Black beans, and rice (white or brown). Buy it in bulk from the cheapest grocery store you can. Dry beans are cheap and easy to prepare. Eggs are also cheap and easy to prepare.
Peanut butter and jelly. I lived off it for a winter while in college, literally.
Don't be above dumpster diving, desperate times call for desperate measures. Find a bakery, or a grocery store and hit the bin (see above about the winter in college, it was awesome!)
Ride the BMX bike. Or better yet, sell it and get a bike with gears... wait. Keep the bmx bike. They are really simple and cheap to fix.

Wanna know how to make money?

1)Take 3 lbs powder sugar
2)Sell it to random strangers in dark alleys
3)Get beat up
4) Profit!!!!!

Why do you even need brakes? Are you some sort of pansy or something?

Bah. I lived for much of a couple years eating a bowl of rice every two-three days.

The best part is that it was FREE rice. Several years earlier, my then-girlfriend's vegetarian co-op got rid of a half-empty 25lb box of rice.
