You expect me to file this?

From "Take your dog to work day" at my wife's job. And from what I heard our dog's job prospects are pretty bleak. Can't even do basic filing. sleeping on the job, etc...

Just have to match the job sought to the skills, basic human resources 101.

I can see that that dog would go excellent at: getting pets, ear skritchy-scratchies, tummy pats, huggies, shake hands, lulling criminals into false security by pretending to sleep, vigorous tail wagging and probably a host of other invaluable skills.
That's a goooooooooood dog, gooooooooooood dog....!

We were really hoping she'd choose a career in the medial field, but I guess at some point you gotta just let her follow her own path. But it sure would make us proud if we could introduce her as "Dr. Woofers MD".

Seriously, she's a therapy dog so I guess she's sorta in the medical field. So once a month she visits the county mental health facility or if they don't need her there, she goes to a nursing home.

I can just imagine how my dog's career would go.

Fired on the first day for sexual harassment (He's a leghumper).

I had the great idea to start selling stainless exhausts with a bit more of a bark to them.
So pooch started work, unfortunately it was not an inspiring occupation for him and productivity soon dropped and the business folded when he started snoozing on the job....

Going....

Going....

Gone.

I think service dogs are awesome! Any type of service dog but it especially touches my heart thinking of those who are born and raised with the sole purpose to help a human being make it through life. It's such a beautiful thing.

I've worked a fair bit in my past with police dogs/search and rescue -training for narcotics and people who get lost but never the companion training that I can only imagine is incredibly rewarding.

Thought I'd share a picture of LuLu, a 6-week old PitBull mix I fostered this past Christmas along with 2 of her brothers who are sleeping in the background smiling smiley

We didn't have to do anything to train her to be a therapy dog, she's a total natural. But the bar is pretty low, don't jump on people, allow affection from strangers, don't lose your fudge around other dogs.

My wife and I (ok, mostly her) raised four puppies for Canine Companions for Independence. Three of them made the cut (usually 60% of the dogs wipe out). Our one Change of Career dog is now 11 and likes food and long walks to the compost heap. He's a good woof. Our first dog (if he's still aliveā€¦he'd be 13) lives in Tennessee, so I haven't heard from his family in years, our third dog is in suburban DC and helps a writer/movie critic get around, and our fourth dog is a professional snuggle bug for a nursing home for retired nuns. Yes you read that right.
