Finnish Fury Rallysport, Nissan 240SX

Hello, we are Finnish Fury Rallysport.

We are a up and coming rally team based out of Duluth, MN. We started campaigning our 1991 Nissan 240SX Group 2 car in early 2011. Our first year was mainly a testing grounds to get the car sorted.

I built the car myself from the ground up with a little help from some of my friends, who have also been acting as my crew for 2011. I started the build up in October of 2009.

My name is Ian, I am the car owner and driver. As of now I do not have a set co-driver, but may for next season depending on how things go. My focus for next season, is Max Attach. The car is currently Group 2, and will stay that way for at least a year, although I have entertained the idea of upping to Group 5.

Some of the other team members are Cale Isaacs, and Broc Nelson. Both have acted as crew, but Cale is looking to get into the car any way he can. His long term goals include building a car of his own.

I first got into rally in the mid 90s when my cousin Eric Seppanen was racing his Production Sentra SE-R, which he later sold to Jake Himes. I worked service for both teams, and in later years helped out Dan Adamson as crew. I have also marshalled many times. I am looking forward to getting to know more and more rally people over the next few years.

Its time to bring Real Wheel Drive back to the rally world.

we should talk about making your suspenders more ralli-worthy.

You already have Bilstein inserts, what you need now are nice chrome-moly tube---and ears of course...and springs with enough travel and need something better in the rear

Can you read off all the stuff stamped into the top of the insert?

You sir may have just opened a door you may wish do unopen. I apologize in advance for the barage of stupid questions, brain dumps, and otherwise silly suspension info I will inevitably throw at you.

Just by that post I can tell that you are the fabled suspension guru I seek.

I am currently at work posting from my phone and the suspension is still in the car, so I cannot get the numbers off the dampers, but I can tell you what they were spec'd for.

How much did you read about my suspension? You seem to know more about it then I expected.

Here is what I think needs to happen to make it better. I stress think because I really only know enough about this stuff to be dangerous, but im learning.

I have enough height, but could use more travel, although I know I am not using the travel I have properly. I think I need a more non linear dampening profile. Shot in the dark I think I need more rebound dampening, and less high speed bound dampening.

I also think I might need slightly softer springs. The car seems to land well off jumps, I have not had any issues with it kicking or twisting. Just a little bounce off the bigger stuff.

I also think helper springs would be a nice addition, because I have very little droop travel and I can tell that it is easy to get the car light, and traction drops off quickly in those situations.

I also need to work on my alignment settings. Currently it is very conservative. Very little negative camber all around, a bit of toe in on the rear, and near neutral toe on the front.

Beefing up the tubes and ears is something I know needs doing. I also need to rethink the front top mounts. The actual mount plates look like dinner plates. The bearings are all steel and seem fine, but the mount plate is aluminium. Might just make something out of steel, they don't need to be pretty. That's it for now, will think of more I am sure.

it's a little nipple thing.
aka schrader valve for charging the gas.

When I order the shock with the schrader valve, they assemble them to order and i can specify the bearings I want---15mm so we can use the nice stainless spacers i make---and the valving, and like for Xratties I can say "minus 1 inch"...
On custom applications where we're adding towers, then we can accomodate the full length, so full length but I still want the 15mm bearings and the specific valving so I go "s".

Stock SR20DET motor, a little T3 and good suspension.. Years of a laugh a minute.

Around these parts it seems the majority have been finally gravitating towards simple solid RWD cars, and finally, for the same reasons that guys where rally has thousands of participants: they fun and easy to upgrade into relaible cars, and that means more time holding on to one car, and more time IN the car.
