What I wonder is if was answering the little shithead Eli Gilbert, one of the biggest crybabies in the State of Crybabies California, or the ever pleasant Mike Hurst who was doing the Midwest type insulting ridicule on Jen's Larsen's why aren't motorcycles faster thread and saying I base "my credibility" soley on Lake Superior rally 1995. I explained that he has for years missed the point of bringing up that result or Maine. In hos view, concerned with status and "authority" he keeps saying that "it was the lowest point of US Rally and everybody is soooooooooooooooooooo much faster". I explained the point, which he missed was IF a guy in an old '69 V4 Saab, on tires at least 3 events old, having done sporadic rallies in the previous 2 years (actually only one event) or so can make a good top 10 or top 5 result, then NONE of US are fast. And that you younger guys who are perhaps a bit more jazzed about rally and presumably want to try harder can be encouraged by seeing what is possible for results especially considering that most of you guys will be in somewhat better machinery. That "Meta-message" is fairly clear to anybody who actually can READ and grant some goodwill to others, but seems Hurst's goal is to perpetuate the "glory" or "prestige" of the "Sport' so you can't have guys saying "we're all slow (by any broader perspective), even the so called "Heroes" in the top Sub-a-rats, so lets stop trying to fool ourselves and just go have some fun that we can afford". But knows whose complaint it was, who knows who did it? I doubt it was Jim Konkler, kinda suspect it was the evil Burmeister since he's part of the Midwest Gang and those guys all seem angry and touchy. > > Andrew Steere, 1973 > Lyndeborough, NH > KB1PJY John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! What some outsiders think after witnessing X-Games: -- Mark and I watched the finals. It's possible that there's a shallower talent pool somewhere in motorsport, but I doubt it. Imagine if, at the next autocross STX event: * The first guy runs a 60 flat; * The second guy ROLLS HIS CAR and turns a 60.5; * The third guy turns a 74 and that should give you an idea -- I used to think rallying was tough, too - and then I saw Ken Block win a pro-level rally, so that set me straight about that. Eli doesn't have that much pull with the SS Mafia and he is not the kind of guy who would try to get someone banned for personal satisfaction. He is actually a pretty good guy who has his head screwed on right.
My vote on the bannificator goes to Mike Hurts. He is the one who makes blatant threats on banning people from this or from that IN WRITING. What a dumbass what a liability for any organization. Time after time the SS mods said that SS is not a democracy, it's their personal property, regardless of the polls about JVL Ban, regardless of how many people find their decision one-way and uncalled for, they do not have the slightest obligation or intention to lift the ban. In a capitalist structure they are doing what they should, it's text book perfect, RA and RA affiliated minions are the ones fronting the bill for their site, they like getting paid, JVL ruffles the feathers of Hurts, Hurts goes and whines at JB, his next door office neighbor, JB calls Jim or whichever mod he calls and says "Ban JVL or no more banner adds, no more RA support for SS", SS bans JVL. Simple ? Yes Provable ? Not likely Plausible ? Absofuckinglutely Well this is my conspiracy theory, feel free to create your own. I wonder how the RallyAnarchy we traffic looks since the ban. I wish the traffic report could be charted for before and after the ban. Cheers M.Samli Phoenix AZ Gaylant VR4 EVO III GSR (Stolen) Rallies are no place for traitors |

Hey Mustafa, Eli called on the phone and just like 99% of people who TALK, I think we had a nice call, and he was nice enough to say he'd looked back at his posts and felt he should apologize. I said no biggie, and splained the only thing any of us "old" meanies have to say about the whole Rally-ex thing is we find the linking to results and bragging about being 5th or whatever PART of the same problem that is killing rally: HYPE.
I said shit beating on a Vista-cruiser wagon on dirt would be fun, beating on anything on dirt is fun, but it doesn't mean its meaningful or transferable. And we agreed that what really is needed is LOTS of cheap OPPORTUNITIES to beat the cars like off road bikes still enjoy somehow. So I said I believe it wasn't him sniveling and it sees that your scenario is most likely . I went and re-read every word I wrote and only thing I see unusual is say STFU in return to Eli's saying shut up, and using the word 'shit talk' or 'talking shit'. That couldn't be the reason, no? Sure see a LOT of people saying I "cuss" too much. What the fuck is it with that? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! As I told you, Eli is a good guy, his head and his heart is in the right place (even though he rolled a Galant and bought a Subarat), I still stick to my conspiracy theory. Now get off the puter and do some work. Cheers M.Samli Phoenix AZ Gaylant VR4 EVO III GSR (Stolen) Rallies are no place for traitors |

Thanks for the vouching Mustafa. And I am stoked on John's and my conversation on Friday - it's definitely to be continued as I didn't even get into my past Volvos (including a flathood) and some other stuff. I think sometimes I let things going on in my personal life bleed through into posts and it's pretty lame in retrospect.
It definitely was not me who reported anyone. Trust me, John and I have had much more incendiary rants in the past than that one! Fun times and no hard feelings from anyone I hope. Eli |

Regarding traffic after the ban, I for one finally registered over here after John got banned. I had briefly visited here before but could never stomach the threaded only view, but then I thought maybe if I was a registered user I'd be able to change views, and lo and behold, I can. So I'm glad to have finally made my way over here to this beetching forum.
Edit: If the forum admin here puts a note somewhere mentioning that you can have a flat view if you register, it will probably increase the number of registrations. Just an idea. ----------------------------- http://www.max-attack.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/25/2008 05:33PM by Shenan. |

"You have been banned for the following reason:
Language, Insults, Personal Attacks" Heh, sounds about right. Did they threaten to smack you off the back of the head, harder than Mike Tyson? John, that kind of (mis)behaviour is expected (and tolerated) only from Subaru drivers! Bwaaahhhaaaahhhhaaaaaa! Jens Mendham Ted Mendham www.rensport.net |
