Nice, twice the fun for the XR.

Rumour has it the Merritt town council is super keen on doing more rally stuff in the area as well, maybe a rally school, open track practice circuit, some sort of permanent course??? That would rock so hard. Especially since my family has a little cabin (well, shack) about 30 minute from Merritt. It's got electricity but no running water - well hell, at least I can run power tools and work on the car! Might get a bit stinky after 3-4 days though. Can always jump in the Coldwater River to clean up.

Some have even taken rain water off the roof of their cabins and put it into a tank, where later when we are stinky we pump the water out of the tank and wash.

I know lots of people are into the enviromental movement and no killing of bactria as that would be unkind to animals... I say wash and let the little suckers die.

Yeah, I should work on putting together some plumbing or something this summer. The cabin needs to be rebuilt - it's kind of sinking into the ground (it was built on railroad ties about 50 years ago). In the summer its no problem, just hang a bag in a tree and let the water warm up, and dont get eaten by the mozzies - its the other 10 months of the year that's a problem. Got to stop by the Merritt city hall and find out what the building process is going to be, unfortunately its in the TNRD district so you can't just build whatever you want tongue sticking out smiley

Derek what do you do for water on Lopez ?

Are you on well ?

I have a friend that builds houses on Saltspring and since most of them are on well water, they use rainwater for grey water... Toilet flushing, irrigation, etc...

I remember visiting St. Thomas a few years back and getting know some chick from Phoenix who was working down there. I ended up staying with her for a few weeks at the condo complex she lived it. They even used grey water for showering.

Skye if the cabin has gutters (if not chuck some on, the cheap aluminum ones from Home Depoo), then set up some 45 gallon plastic collection drums.

It won't be potable, but you can always boil it.

Besides this will free up room to bring more important things with you like beer, porno's, bong, cookies, and chips.

I take the rain water off the roof, run it though corse filter into 2 -2500gal tanks.

Then I take water from tank to a pump though filters for cysteria and particals and taste. After that the water passes though big UV light that kills 99.9999% of everything except cysteria (removed prior via the filter) and then up to my sinks etc.

It is fun in the summer when everyone around is running out of water from their wells to be out washing the boat or plane, watering trees etc. Besides the well water tast bad up there and rain water tast good - sometimes get a light pine tast but then all I need to do is change the carcol filters.

I designed the system myself then got it approved by the local health department.

Also fun when all the power is out from wind storm but my lights are on since I am all solar and wind powered.

Derek, you are one clever lad. I'd like to see your palace and plane sometime, I would.

Clean livin'.
