Just buy my BMW add seats, harnesses, JVABs, Porterfield pads, skid plates, gravel wheels and tires and go rally. I can provide everything but the JVABs. smiling smiley

Paul,
Stay away from that lot on Columbia. Owned by rich of riches volvos only. Biggest thieve in the portland Volvo scene. Plenty of other places. Vol tech is right by there. They are expensive but honest enough.

Thanks for that, I couldn't remember the weasels name and i wanted to warn him. I've seen some horror stories about the guy....
I read he has deceptive Craigslist ads under "private" seller..
Any phone numbers for the guy so Paul can have some ammo?

Not to be a kook, but isn't the Duratec 2L legal for Volvos? Nice cheap forged crank from Mazda, RWD oriented intake manifold from Mazda, probably better cam availability than the 16V Volvos, 6 speed with 5 decent ratios from Mazda...

... maybe I'm just being an agitator now, heh heh.

Sorry no but there is a fairly lengthy thread on the Ovt forum about him. I've only had the unfortunate expierence of buying some trim pieces from him.

I don't see how. It wasn't ever used in a Volvo-badged vehicle. The FoMoCo-umbrella based Volvos all had Volvo engines. (whiteblock 5-cylinders, maaybe some sixes if you count the S80 as FoMoCo).

Yeah, maybe but at Noob-u-lar level there's no advantage of dumping the thing that's in the car---especially when it CAN be upgraded and no need to get this from dat and dis from zat and pay the price for a 6 speed box..

And then a buncha fab to mount it, management system to make/install/tune...

The Duratec/Maz-dog head is a gem....and will flow for lotta go...but management, install and tune..

That is the road to perdition..

Mill the fuck outta a stock head, make sure you have springs that have some seat pressure, a cam like this:

Quote

Volvo B21/B23/B230 FS280 kamaxel utan fördelarspår
Volvo B21/B23/B230 FS280 utan fördelarspår

PRICE--->900:- or about 116 USD before taking off the salesd tax..
Multiply 900 x 0,8= 720 kr and its $85----less than Turdboatpricks want for used K cams

Stomreturfrakt (+ 125:-)<---------------core charge

Lashcaps 2 mmView (+ 100:-)<----------------Lashcaps needed

Lagerstatus

Köp Läs mer..Mer..
Volvo trimkam FS280.
Passar B21 / B23 / B230.
Steg 1 folkracekam storsäljare på både Volvo och Saab.

--> Funkar även mycket bra i en B230F med 2mm planad topp, för gatbilen.<----

That's good enough for a noob...its better than most in the class.

There were Vocuses* with 4s but they were short versions of the 5s....Volvo (via Wolfsburg)

C30, S40 and some other crap supposedly had the 2L Duratec, at least in some body trims in Europe or something maybe. As John says, Vocuses, but hey, good enough to probably convince people it's legal in a class that I doubt tech inspectors care that much about!

Yeah, I know it's overkill for most purposes, I just get to thinking about some of this crap.

Don't think so...I import and haven't seen any Duratec stuff in any parts lists in Sweden or Germany and the catalogs list variants with a S or a D or a NL when its for those nmarkets..

Truth is it doesn't matter: why would somebody buy a Fail Wheel drive 'spensive Vockus when there are 8 million Fuckuses around for a fraction of the price?

Doesn't RA care about the engine being the same make as the body? UK (and maybe other places, dunno) C30 (and possibly others but I'm too lazy to google and finding one makes my point) has as a 2L option what Volvo calls a B4204S3 which just happens to be a Duratec 2L. So hey, the Duratec is a production Volvo engine and thus totally kosher to cram into any other (for example, RWD) Volvo, right?

Or something, whatever. I figure this is at least slightly more on topic than posting pictures of vans.

Or run to NASA rules where there is no restriction on the engine manufacturer.

Or just run RA Regional.

RA national is the only remaining location for the rule on the badge stamped on your engine block.

The engine is unrestricted, but, in vehicles entered in National
Championship rallies, it must be derived (at least the engine block)
from a product line offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle.

Ra doesn't care about the motor anymore unless you are running as a national competitor. Do what you want to
