Project 83 RX7 Stage Car

Hay John V, I found two brand new Bilstein shocks for free, they are for a newer Toyota Tundra with a 2 inch lift. I'm wondering if these would work for you to use to make the rear coilovers? I figured I'd ask and see if I could save a few bucks.

See those little rectangular indents around the top of the body? Those are "crimped together" shocks...no rebuild... t
the the final thing is upper mount.
Pin mount, No fun

So for that free shock, no big advantages, lots of negative qualities..

Might work..
But hell if you just wanna try some shocks out, I have some decent size/length mount..

One of the problems is OEM mounts may be say "about yay wide",,,so you zap on some ears for that width between flats.

THEN after wa while you decide the threaded body thing is groovey and want to get some of those..

Now you have different LOA (length Over All) and a different--or unique mounting width..--so THEN you think

OK "I take me widdle Saw-alll duh yepp duh yep, I'm gonna cut off my lower mounts yep yep huh huh huh hug (doing your best Elmer Fudd imitation)

Which you do.

Then you remember the upper mounts (DOH!)

Willling to do that?
Sell those with a ad coppy like "TWO INCH LIFT is LIKE A 12" WIENER___YOU'LL HAVE TO FIGHT THE WIMMIZS OFF" and sell them on Flea By.

Retail is 100-139 on those..
Shoot for 100.

I was talking in general as a way to get above scrap value for them in resale.

At some point I will need to put rear shocks on the Lemons car that have less than unknown street mileage and about 1,600 laps of the NHMS road course.

I'm buying a 13b from a 87 rx7 on Saturday, probably going to put a carburetor on it, and we'll see how it fits with the 2nd gen subframe I have. Will need to make a new header. I also bent some practices tubes over the weekend. It's slowly coming together.

Alright, so I picked up the 13b and got a Toyota rear end, 2nd gen steering column, Infiniti wheels, front brake calipers, and some other stuff. I'm waiting on a motor mount so I can't mock fit anything in yet. I've been looking for anyone that has done a 2nd gen front subframe with a 13b engine and can't find anyone that has done it, it would be nice to find someone. I'm also going to put in the 4 link rear end and panhard bar.

There's two people on this very forum who done it.

I used to pooh-pooh the beefier rears. I broke an axle last week. Got air and landed at peak power and the dumbass driver kept the throttle pinned. It wrecked the diff when the stuff flew around in there, opened up the spot where the carrier bearing is. Which also threw the gear mesh into a hard interference fit and it wrecked the R&P when I drove it to a safe place to rest. Much sorrow. (But dammit I was able to drive it with 1WD) Had to weld up an open diff because can't find any more limited slips. Too busy at work to pick up a phone and call Speedway to see how much one of their floater rearends is, since their online ordering is "We'll charge your credit card once we are doing making it" with NO general guideline as to how much it'd be.

Rant rant seethe seethe. Anyway what do you want to know? If you do it Pete style and bolt the front holes to the existing forward studs, you'll need to clearance the inner fenders, trim the fender corners, and modify the motor mounts so the engine sits back about an inch. If you do it Abe Omid style and put new studs in the body so the wheels are centered, the engine bolts right up to the subframe with no fuckery required.

With the second way you're taking about a 13b onto a 2g subframe right? Should I use front motor mount (12a style) or the stock 13b mounts?

Ha Pete if you get more info on that speedway axle I like to here it my axle search isn't going very well

You cannot use the front mount. Mazda moved the mount to the engine because the rack is in the way.

Ok Pete, that's the answer I was looking for, but couldn't find. Also I got a 2g steering column that I was going to try to make work, it looks like it might be like 2 inches short though, but I'll see what I can do.
