Awesome I can run a header then! I must have misread/misunderstood the rules at the time I read them and mixed up production class rules, thanks all for clearing that up smiling smiley so inexpensive header is ok though? I don't need anything super fancy?

I had an 82 Volvo 240D that had to be one of the last vehicles in Canada without a factory cat.

FANCY? yeah you need bling... the more chrome and stainless and stuff the faster you go...

No, listen to these VW pervs... they will set you right with cheep cheep and fast.

If you're in Penetang, to bad "BEAR" moved from Dorset to Gilmour... but it's still an easy morning commute!

Have you driven Southwood rd??? smiling smiley

88 and older need no etest as far as I know in Ontario so anything prior to that I'd think wouldn't need a cat either. Also I'm having trouble finding a header locally, does anyone know if a mk3 8v header will fit my mk 2 ? I've been on Google all morning and can't find a definitive answer :/ and no mat I can't say I have driven south wood rd or know where exactly it is for that matter the link and my phone aren't cooperating... But ya I'd drive to Gilmour if it was worth it? Who is this "bear" you speak of?

OK just which engine you have?
I can get headers unwelded so they ship in a smaller box.. They come from the only country where Golves were ever more or less popular...ya know the place where 55% of the cars are Volvos.

The point is CARS requires a cat if the car was to have one. You might get away with it once... but that would be lucky.

edit... the cat doesn't need to be original, or even in the stock location or anything... just needs to be there somewhere. It was once asked if sitting in the back of the car was fine smiling smiley not sure what the answer was.

Bear? You're in Ontario, thinking about rally, and don't know Bear? winking smiley

John it's a 1.8 8v but gimme an email if you'd like and we can talk about the headers if you have something? Besides that leaning towards a raceland header. As for bear I was thinking it was a person so no I honestly thought tall pines was one of the closest to me haha :/ oh no my amateur is showing haha....

The raceland header actually looks decent, and it has some decent reviews as far as fit/finish/quality. The price is ghetto cheap ta boot! The guys at Techtonics Tuning have been in the VW game for a long time. Give them a call and see what they recommend. They might know of a stock option that works great until you start going crazy. All of my 8vs have used a later stock header with an exhaust made to fit.

I'm not sure what john has available from the mother land. Send a linky poo John.

Of course you're not sure what I have available.

It is my personal connection...duh.

Techtonics has some nice stuff---for slightly warmed over street guy motors...unless somehow they have "discovered' serious n.a. market....that is why I suggest going to where there has been a LONGER involvement at HIGHER levels specifically rally on gravel related..

Your confidence that you and local shops know about rally, be it suspesnion, or box or motors is almost quaint....
why would one waste time talking to people that don't know rally and don't care when there is the opportunity to get stuff specifically made for going on gravel?

Their headers in the past worked...but cracked frequently.

Should I pm you then john? I'm definitely interested in what you can get haha I just figured I'd be ok with a budget header for the time being but if I can get a better part than what's commercially available that's hard to turn down haha

John do you think we could get our hands on one of these headers before June?

Don't see why not...let's see what they say. (I had asked about Volvo, and since they are 50-60% of the field, no problem.. VWs are out there but not near the numbers..
Again

Your engine is:
8v crossflow?
8v non cross-flow?
What?
