It'll be great, we've been needing someone to show us that the fox can rally.

I personally think rallying a car you are familiar with is better than a car that ideal for rally, at least starting out.

Keep the power steering.

I'm excited to try, but we'll see!

Regarding the power steering, can you go further? I'm used to the manual racks in my classic, they suck at parking, but anything over 25mph feels good to me, lots of feedback... I figured that on the gravel that would only be better. Is it an endurance thing? Too tiring to drive the stages with manual steering?

Re: PS

Long ago back to back tests were done on FWD cars with guys who were factory drivers (Saab) and both guys capable of winning individual WRC rounds...(Blomqvist and Eklund)
back to back, consistent drivers.
Result:
with PS thet were 1 second per km quicker..
That's 1.6 seconds quicker per mile...

That alone is worth it..

Next. PS racks are usually quicker...Most Moose-ang non power racks are about 4,1 turns lock to lock...

That means in practice you will one day crash the car when doing the side to side dance, you simply won't be able to spin the things 4 turns back in time to go from sideways THIS way to sideways THAT way.

IF you feel you need more feel, the assist is a matter of volume thru the bypass valve---big brass thing on the side of the pump where the hose comes out...There are dozens of alternates to the relief valve...

Huh?

I think Tony is suggesting that Hamboner is (like) Blud-mister-demon-dude...

But I think Hambone1966 is the real deal, real converations have been had, and just a starting post that "makes you go Hum hum hum"... But that was just a shot of a car some real dude actually picked up for little mony mony, and is gonna really do sometin wit.

BUILD IT!

On second read.... I'm not sure... maybe Tony's right.

You'll just have to wait and see... ha ha ha. I'm just a random guy trying something new. I'm supposed to meet up with Jon Rood this weekend so he can vouch for me after that!

The car is already white, so it's got that going for it.

Well Jon Rood was kind enough to drop by over the weekend. He said we could MAYBE make enough mods to get it passable, but we all decided it was safer and better to re-do it. Once that's done I'll come back for some more advice. Thanks guys!

I'm going to petition that the wing and tail light covers remain on the finished build.
Louvers for the hatch should also be added.

The old (wrong) cage is out and we dropped the car off over at American Motorsports (they're putting in a rally cage) on June 1, planning to get it back in enough time to do some more work before the Prescott Rally in October.

Get them to stick in some rear shock towers so you can get some rear wheel travel..Travel=grip

This is the latest cage progress... It will be finished with a little over 2 months to go before the race. I'm looking for some seat suggestions to replace the old kirkey aluminum ones.
