Brake rotors - microfractures
September 22, 2015 11:07PM
Vented front rotors, solid, not slotted or crossdrilled. Microfractures radiating outwards from hub towards edge, apparently just in the surface, and all in the middle area where the pads hit.

Is this something to be concerned about?

(It's not my car, and I don't know the history of the rotors.)

It's a mad mad mad world, and everyone knows Mad is better than Cracked.

My advice was to just replace 'em. Rotors are cheap, relatively speaking. I'm just wondering if it's an "OMG, they're gonna explode!" sort of thing.

Non, ce que beaucoup de ventilation ne sont pas bonnes pour le freinage. Il est aussi mauvais que mon français.

Those hairline fractures is called "heat checking" they're just superficial due to heat and surface pressure. Most race cars get them. Just make sure they dont develop past the edge of the disc.

Mr. Ferreira:

What are your thoughts on these??? The mpg, and less drag theories seem appealing to me on G2 car.
