Clever setups for door handles & windows?

So, my cage is designed in such a way that the oem door handles cannot fully extend and open the door from inside the car. Minor oversight...

While I'm not located with my car, I'm curious if anyone has pictures of some K.I.S.S. solutions to this problem.

Additionally, my car has power windows and I'm also throwing around ideas to easily remedy that. My current plan relies on gravity to open the windows, and it just occurred to me this would be useless upside down, and if the door has been rendered inoperable and I'm upside down- no bueno.

I like pictures of people's unique solutions...

I have seen nylon straps or wire rope used for door and latch pulls.
Something like this. You can also make a loop section to pull the door closed with.

Nylon strap has been the solution to everything so far, as I envision it in my mind. Maybe I'm not so far off base...

What is wrong with the power windows? Just relocate the switches to between the seats for easy access for the co-driver to open any window.

You mean aside from the cost of the motors and the certainty of the motors and/or the switches failing?

Maybe I've just been lucky...Since 1969 I have had zero manual winders fail and seen 1 fail on a Saab that the guy lost the screw in the middle of the handle and cleaned the splined toofies off..so thats lazy owner error..

Electric winders: all of them fail eventually. And the switches too

It would cost more to ship the manual crank audi window shit across the pond than it would to just yank em and go with plastic. Plus I put the co-drivers window out of his reach with the belts tight. lots of fun going up and down as he tries to pass little cards through the window.

I have seen plenty of manual window failures. but, I suspect the biggest problem in most cars is that with an "X" door bar plus the A-pillar brace, you often have no access to the manual winder without the door open. So, it doesn't matter if manual regulators are reliable or not if you cant use them.

FWIW, on the Audi units, generally, the VW MK2&3 stuff can be made to fit and is readily available for cheap (like $20ish per door)

I honestly never thought power windows would pass tech. Never read anything on it, must have just assumed since they don't work without power.

But either way, they're slow as dogshit and heavy, and I've planed to be rid of them since day one.

power windows are "OK" WRC cars have them !

and if the "FIA" is OK with them it's all good

the competitor must be able to describe to the satisfaction of the event scrutineer the ability to escape
from the car with the doors closed.

why my car has electric windows and a window breaker hanging on each belt (remember when those were required???). also, depending on where you are and what you need to do get on the road legally the windows need to go up and down with the doors closed for state inspection as well.

i would guess that is why the wrc cars use power windows, do to the cage being in the way of a crank. a window breaker is a good idea even with non-power windows, but what to do with lexan windows?

Oh rules schmules...Silly Wabbit...
I would have thought at cage design time that people figure out a way for ordinary cranks to clear the door bars...That old ex-works Sapphire Cosowth I bought for my friend Jamie Florence had manual winders that worked just dandy, so it can be done.
