Wheel to caliper clearance

My wheel spokes are pretty close to my caliper. I've been afraid of getting a rock between them and ruining my day. What the rule of thumb?

About a thumb, maybe a little less.. the REAL scary clearance is the back of the caliper to
the ID of wheel gap.....

Little to do to improve things there except have a few extra calipers ready.

My rule of thumb for rally is that some days will be ruined, bring spare parts and hope you can fix issues that arise. Spend less time thinking about what could go wrong and more rallying... or something like that.
