98 Civic RallyX to G2 build

How do you guys think a skidplate bolted up to one of these H braces would hold up? I think it would make for an easy installation and removal, but I'm a bit concerned by how the brace attaches. Would I run a high risk of tearing the crossmember where the front LCA mounts (the visible bolt at the left of the picture) or am I being paranoid? I also wonder if this would take away too much ground clearance, any input would be greatly appreciated.
