unfortunately, yes the lexan will not last long, but mind you this is my first car. Was lexan the smartest choice? nope. easiest? yup. ah, good point about tire clearance with regards to the coilover. never crossed my mind! hopefully i dont run into any issues. How do I test 'full compression'? Take your compact and race me at 100aw! Be excellent to each other |

You should see my Lexan job. I had like two hours to make it work. Only one got mechanical restriant, rest had to stick with silicone as I had no time to devise a method. Hence why they ended the season held in by duct tape... I believe Brooks kept the stock rail in his car and exactly replicated the window in Lexan and put it in the stock rail. A gutted door is easy to mechanically attach, a non-gutted door is not so much. Also, my lexan was slightly thicker than the glass and is kinda a royal pain in the ass to get into the grooves along the top and sides of the frames. I think it's 1/8". I don't think Dave's rubbing is enough to be of a concern under full compression. Tire slightly rubs on spring maybe. I don't recall exactly what he said. His has turrets and is a Compact to so perhaps the upper part of the turret is too far outboard to avoid notching the frame rail. Okay, I won't wait for the DMS... Let's see what Derik did on his M3. (See attached) Okay, obviously aftermarket upper and lower arms there. Let's see what Hintz did... Nope, no luck finding photos and pretty sure Dave Clark has been effectively chased off by John already. Probably similar since he's also on Reiger I believe. Found a pic in Dave's mobile uploads. Looks similar so yeah, probably need new upper arms. Easy stuff. Grant Hughes |

Sealant would be better than duct tape for sure.
Find a moonroof panel. Seriously. So much easier. Are you a two door or four door. I might be able to find one for you. There's plenty of upper arms out there. We will start making them also if there is not. Guessing Hintz and Nelson didn't just make theirs, maybe they did though. Grant Hughes |

Little update. I got to the shop today and got to work cranking out little tasks. First order of business was to finished removing the sound deadening tar. After that was complete, I sprayed goo-gone basically everywhere inside the car to get the sticky junk out. A few hours and about 40 sheets of paper towels later, it all cleaned up. kinda (still some junk left). Next was to adjust the front coilovers and check the ride height. This is with the bottom flang 3.75inch above the top ear piece.
A few months ago I started cutting wires that went to the rear of the car and had no idea if I cut something vital. So I also started the car successfully today with no problems. Now in preperation for moving my car build from a pest control shop to my parents farm, I started re-assembling the car so I can make the 90 mile drive to its new home next weekend. This is where the car will remain until completion. So yeah, just a small update. chow Be excellent to each other |
