Volvo Coolant Leak
April 26, 2016 03:58PM
Ok, just sprung a leak on my 242 GT, drivers side at the back of the block. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but am I right to suspect the feed to the heater core, or is this likely something more significant. Sudden release of a fair bit of coolant, but seemingly not draining the fluid or constantly dripping.

Thoughts?

The heater core lines are at the back on the drivers side. May have a bad hose there.
They also have a habit of spitting out freeze/core plugs.

That would be my first guess. They move around a fair bit thanks to squishy volvo motor mounts so it would make sense for them to finally give up on a 35+yr old car. Not too mention how many heat cycles they have seen.
