Is the hole on the bottom in the 240 caliper typical? See above photo

As far as I know yes. I made 240 calipers work on my car. The hole/brake line clearance is a little snug but it works without issue. I am using volvo 240 rear rotors so if you are using something of smaller diameter then yes it may pose a clearance issue.

If you want I can send you pics of my bracket setup if your willing to wait a few days.

A FEW DAYS!!!! holy mother of christ on a cross we need it now!!!!! Just snap a shot with your phone and click it thru here. HI REZ!
And answer the phone!

Uhhhhhh... i tell ya sometimes! eye rolling smiley

gimme a sec ill snap a photo. Got your message, how urgent is this? I am dealing with school rubbish at the moment so time is very limited. I will return your call sunday or monday.

Here ya go. I designed the bracket as a two piece deal so that if down the road you decide to put a different caliper on it you hopefully don't need to redo the whole thing. Also the two parts of the bracket are currently being held together with m8 bolts. They are holding but i have been meaning to get something bigger in there... or just weld it.

The alignment needs a little work but its not bad. Im using standard volvo 240 rear rotors.

Beautiful. Simple. Lots of clearance caliper to wheel...something some geniuses think is unimportant...

Is the diameter of the axle tube way fatter near the brake mounting area cause of the abs ring? It doesn't look that way from the pics you posted but kinda hard to tell.

So here is what I have. Toyota 4runner axle. An 8" and as I now regret, ABS equipped one. Machined the axles to fit a saab 900 rotor in 4x4.5.

I find this picture terrifying. Those may be giant strong studs, but there is only like an 1/8th of an inch of material around them on that axle, and the old stud holes with the little grooves around the edge are pretty much perfectly pre-made crack-starters. There is WAY more meat holding the wheels on a bicycle.

Don't want to be a buzz-kill, just had to say it.

Have you seen what 4x108 VWAG hubs look like?

The old stud holes are a little concerning, but VWMS hubs were severely scalloped, so probably not so much a big deal.

It's probably still stronger than the wheel that attaches to it.

so here is how this panned out for me. Slightly modified and rearranged disc brake mounts for the front calipers of a toyota pickup circa 1984. rotor hat modified to fit my axle I already had machined to a Saab rotor (thanks JVL!), and a 300mm non-vented rotor for said hat!
