Are you talking about the upper core-support? Or the two side wings that the light assemblies bolt into?
It was only the later cars that had the bolts and the spot welds for the core-support. Early cars are all bolted together. Once you figure out how to pull a volvo part, they're super easy. You shouldn't need to open the AC system to pull the motor out.

First pic is what I beat the fuck out of, second pic is what I'm working with

Don't forget ya boi the #FatMechanic who gave you the emotional support to swap this beast. Aka me, the fat kid laying on the ground. Now let's go get a mustang tranny from a junkyard and put the other engine in.

Nicely done.
The T5 swap isn't exactly a drop in deal. Get prepaired to spend about a $1k and a few weekends making stuff.

What happened to those magic $200 gearboxes I kept hearing about? Guess John V really is a liar. .

Could be that things have gone up in price as time rolls on for a decade while everybody is flogging the log...

Supra diffs used to go for $75..

I picked up a T5 for free ( though it was disassembled, it looks good except for 2nd gear sycro).

And a Supra diff from the junkyard for $30 because they didn't know what a diff was, so a 'rear pinion gear' it became.

I also bought a Supra LSD for $125 that I shipped to Mr. Culbertson here.

Deals are out there, you just have to look and be willing to put in a little effort to make it work.

Ryan, I swear you live in a goldmine of used car parts. Thanks for finding that diff!

The Mid-west is a wasteland of rusted out shells with engines and transmissions there for the taking! Idk how I've found them, but I do. I'm about to transport the third T9 trans to the Merkur guy in Chicago.

Mr. LexusFman, a T9 WITH a bell housing fits in the trunk of my MkIV Golf just fine, a T5 would fit diagonally. They're smaller than you think really. The TDI Express (as I call it) has also carried a MkII golf motor, with the hatch closed, but that's a different story grinning smiley

Darn Ryan, you didn't even drop the rear seats. Do That, and you could fit an entire VW driveline in sideways, with the axles still installed.

Definitely could fit! The only hard part would be getting it in there (we had trouble with clearance above the engine trying to the the mkII motor in with an engine lift). MkIV's have a lot of space in the trunk! Taking it out was different, two burly rally crew guys reached in and basically tossed it into the trunk of a Suburban.

Derailing this thread long enough, how's the progress and is that T5 in MI still available? If they're not making the trip, I'll gladly take a look at it.

Idk for now I kinda just want to get it running with the auto. It would make me feel good about myself to get her started up at least. Both eyes on the path mofucka.

Then after it's running, I'm keeping it stock as fuck with the auto, and do the drift Bible practice stuff. Once I can drift not in first gear, that's when the manual comes into play. I might invest in a bucket seat and race steering wheel, but I'll probably go used on that.

And I'm gonna need to get my stacks up if I'm gonna do the T5 swap cuz I'll still need the clutch, flywheel (I might as well upgrade)driveshaft, etc. Remember I'm not an important adult like you guys, I'm a pseudo adult. That means I have to take care of myself, but I don't get paid like it. I make that live at home with your parents/welfare money. But I don't live at home. Le sigh.

Yak, we gotta get my celica up to the shop too. Hopefully we can find some sort of towing service, or I can use AAA. Not sure how many calls I have left on my AAA card yet, so I will have to call them and find out. Pick a day soon that we can pull the engine on the celica. I need you as emotional support. When we have a day I will buy a rebuild kit and such. We should also probably buy an engine stand too. I've got to start rust repair. Maybe we can get an air compressor and a sand blaster soon. I still think a welder would be first on the list. Let me know when your buddy Joe can dump the rest of the trash too.

Made some progress on the Volvo today. Took out the distributor from the old motor and started fucking with the fuel pump. I jumped it by the fuse box and the pump is getting hot but I don't hear anything. I guess that means I'm getting voltage and the pump is fucked? Maybe what happened is the in tank pump died and the main pump got over worked to death?

EDIT: What's my cheapest option for a fuel pump? FPC euro said $200 something worth of my slavery compensation known as a paycheck and that's only 1 pump so it's mod time?

What's my cheapest option? Walbro 255 in the tank? Hamster power? Your mom sucks liquids pretty good, can we fit one of those under there with a little fabrication? Heard shes pretty cheap too BANG for ya buck.

Damn 2 days with no replies...I guess everyone just wants to stroke it to T5 swaps n shit I can't afford yet, who needs fuel right? Don't worry Helga will be fap worthy soon. I was gonna paint her polestar blue but I might just keep it white so the stains just blend in...

I went onto rock auto and they're saying like $25 for the lift pump and $30 for the pro sweedish hooker pump but the descriptions seem like they're Google translated from Chinese and if this forum taught me anything it's if you pay for sucking, go expensive, or else you will catch STD's and/or lean yo shit out yo

$50 sounds alot better than $170 something for something that requires mods...I already suck at repair, why test the waters with modifications?

For real tho it's cool I just like attention because I can't get it from women.
