How long does it really take to get a car ready for snow-o-cross?

Well, you guys can see my name, I'm 30, I'm building a rally car yada yada yada.

But, since it's a long project, I want some car built for general hooliganism (I guy can become really miserable driving a mazda 2).

I've had a bunch of old Volvos in the past so, I was like "whatever dude let's "build" a 240.

Here's the 240 in question (In Saskatchewan last spring during my yearly trip across Canada)

And btw, I've been talking countless hours on the phone with John about all the things that really matter (and sometimes car shits were mentionned).

So obviously, I want to get rid of the Volvo diff.

Got myself a Toyota 8" at the pick and pull and cued the music

Look like this (yuk):

Bought two ring thingy at my local machine shop (10$) CAD:

The most annoying thing to do is to remove the axle bearings, you need to pull on these.

After watching this video:

I made my own ugly retarded version with scrap laying around:

You end up with the bearing thingy and the rear part of the drum... that you want gone (wtf drum brakes)?

Use anything that is about the right size and punch the mother****er out.

Next you want to grind these little lips there in order to have a flattish surface to weld the ring thingy.

Mine are now welded and the axles are at the machine shop. Forgot to take pictures.

A toyota axle swap for a grass-o-cross car? I think not. Must be a typo. Surely you are building a rally car! drinking smiley
Keep at it!

I'm pretty sure his rally car is this:

Or

Or maybe it was this one;

Yeah. One of those..

The 240 is just for normal Quebec commuting. Home to the Ski hill stuff like that.

I do not see any problem in choosing the superior Volvo to race and the beige one to fuck around.

And it looks good from this angle

Also...

thumbs up smiley

Je suis à Tremblant.
Es-tu toujours à Labelle?
Je peux me déplacer et je cherche toujours des pièces.
J'attends de tes nouvelles.
Merci.

Vincent,

Oui, Je suis dans the big smoke... NDG en fait.

I'm not sure what I have left, probably some side window glass, maybe some virgo's, but I might have gotten rid of them. For sure some wire harness stuff, IDP sway bars for sure, maybe some calipers and brake pads. You know, junk. I'll look and see what's there, maybe this weekend.

Cheers!
