It's super easy to TIG weld. The key to anything that's cast is getting it clean, especially the crack.
Magnesium welds just like aluminum, with the benefit that the material isn't attracted to the tungsten electrode. You can submerge the electrode in the weld pool and it will come out clean, it's pretty neat!

Just make sure that there's no metal shavings anywhere near where you're welding, or on the part.

So as knowing someone in your area, I don't. Any shop that can TIG weld aluminum should be able to TIG magnesium.

Thanks Robert. Good to know. I should have mentioned I'm in Seattle and this is a friends car. If I were in Spokane, I know several places that could do this. I'm sure there's places in Seattle that can handle it. Just wondering if anyone here recommends someone.

Hi John - I've been working in Ballard for the last seven months. How have you been?

What did you do? Have you been riding bikes again? Wow that's a list. Glad you are doing better. I could stop by. When's a good time?
