Mon Dieu! If les Frenchies from the north keep up this level of antagonism to US citizens then they may end up building another wall along the top border to keep those pesky foreigners out! Hmm, if I start annoying them from the east and someone can start heckling from the west they might just build walls all around them and that will keep the USAsians and their orange leader contained... It's a long shot but it might just work Scotty. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass |

So, still think your less than 400$ mod is worth it? I think the toyota rear end is better for not significantly more. thats 780$ cad to my door for ring and pinion, bearing kit & that locker you wank about...

I've being saying that for ages. But Ontario (and Alberta) should also be nuked, paved and nuked again. God damn loyalists! But let the maritimes folk out of that, they drink a lot, they talk funny and they have a fucking good sense of humour. I like them. Ask for work. If they don't give you work, ask for bread. All it took was one thread to remind me why I don't visit this forum anymore.
Complaining that someone didn't convert prices and shipping to loonies and toonies? Christ on a crutch... Let's crunch my numbers real quick... Volvo 1030 axle = free 4.88 r&p from rockauto = $120ish Bearing kit from rockauto = $70ish Friend who has experience and will help swap r&p, press bearings, set preload, etc... = free (and priceless) Same friend to TIG weld diff closed = free (and again, priceless.) So, my axle set me back around $190 US dollars, plus some shipping monies, which was around $20 maybe? So there's a well under $300 rally ready Volvo axle. Please flame me now. |

The diff in the Dave's xratty has been reshimmed 2 times. Once by be, once by another shop. Even after 3 rallies it's already backed off a bunch again. Probably due to the spring being a belville washer, which looses spring force extremely quick as the clutches wear and the compressed distance changes. The "lesser" Weir kit might work better in the long run if you wanted less maintenance and more consistent preload. Also, look at diff designs, the mk3 Supra diff doesn't increase preload like a Salisbury (normal racing clutch plate diff). The Supra diff is more susceptible to clutch wear due to its design. 1 supposed example. 2 truthiness. But I believe you. What is "a bunch"? Cars are not built with probability. Ask for work. If they don't give you work, ask for bread. Currently less than 85lb-ft. It'll spin the diff when the wheel is in the air and you torque a lug nut. Was set at over 250 initially (215 lb me on a breaker bar verified). After 7 rallies you can spin the tire by hand (acts as an open diff) so maybe 5-25 lb-ft Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/09/2017 10:07PM by Robert Culbertson. |

Danny, even hinting that Quebecois are anything like Frenchies is worse than calling you a Englishman....Yeah, that bad...serious fights and people carried outta bars feet first are common outcomes when that occurs..These guys have said right out "Fawk those fawkin poncy French bastards and their pooftie langauge. WE speak real manly men French here...." And don't give them too many ideas, I know they'd gladly build a wall and a MOAT filled with rabid beavers between them and Ontario....and you wanna hear good salty sustained swearing???, just mention Alberta.. And they have no antagonism to US citzens....just some. John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Ok, you got me, I don't know what you are babblin' about. Are you talking about preload? (wich is suppose to be between 8.7 and 13.9 in.lb (on new bearings) Or you are talking about the breakaway torque? Or are you just bullshitting again? Ask for work. If they don't give you work, ask for bread. If they do not give you work or bread, then take bread. - Emma Goldman |
Break away torque of the diff, which comes from the preload on the clutch packs inside the carrier/diff.
Read this: http://www.intothered.dk/simracing/differential.html Now compare that to the mk3 Supra diff and report back on the differences in design and function of the differential. |

My idea was that enough isolationist Amercians would be motivated to produce American bricks & mortar and supply the American labour, thus stimulating American economic activity by creating American products and American jobs, paying American wages and those wage recipients paying American taxes to pay for American public services and healthcare. Admittedly I had imbibed a few ciders prior to posting last night, so in the sober light of day I see there may be flaws in that plan. How and ever, I hereby suggest the following back up: Population of planet = 7.5 billion Population of USA = 325 million With US foreign policy spreading such delightful peace and harmony to non- USAsians around the planet, I'd imagine there's potential for a global crowdfund where rather than donating cash, donors choose to give a breeze block. 7.175 billion breeze blocks bound to be a decent start. Feck it, I'm feeling generous this morning so I'll donate 10 blocks. Disappointingly not yet a Jackass Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/09/2017 04:57AM by danster. |
