But you could still get a pretty nice kit from Gforce for a lot less and do it yourself...

i like the 2.46 to .9 road race raios.

i'm done bidding.

just have to see if he will take what i offer.

just the gears are $1700.

like i said its super nice and would last a long time

with the power i put out, but its still to much money.

you guys run dog gears in your t5's?

"This kit starts around $2200 from G-Force."

That's for a dog setup though, right?

When I looked into it right when it was announced, I thought you could do a straight-cut synchro setup with decent (compromise between road race and street) gearset for about $1000 plus upgrades...

Complete pricing here:
http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/pdfs/PricingT-5.indd.pdf

For $2000 you can get a reman'd T5 with the dog ring gear kit, helical or straight cut. For $2500 you can get a new T5 with the dog kit.
The kit is $1700.

2.95 Helical synchro kit is $1095.

All these use factory mainshafts and 5th gears. The .9 dog 5th is $465. They have stronger mainshafts available too. I figure for the power output I'm looking at, a basic setup will work good for me. Here's what they say about their straight cut dog gear kit, "Generally, it can be assumed that with the available upgraded mainshaft, the G-Force T-5 kit will handle roughly 600 hp or 500 ft-lb. or torque in a 3300 lb. vehicle running drag radials at the track with a moderate clutch upgrade." I don't think I'll ever be anywhere near that number. That's a nice thing about the T5. It's so overkill.

They used to have a straight cut synchro kit. Looks like they eliminated it, but have lowered the pricing on the dog kits.

Dog box? Heck no. I've got good ratios though, especially when combined with the turbo supra 4.1 or 4.3 LSD -

FORD SIERRA SAPPHIRE COSWORTH 2WD
        Gearbox: Borg-Warner T5
Final drive: 3.64:1 22.8 mph per 1000 rpm in 5th
        Internal ratios:
                1st, 2.95:1
                2nd, 1.94:1
                3rd, 1.34:1
                4th, 1:1
                5th, 0.80:1

Compared to.....

1985-1986 Thunderbird 2.3L turbo 1352-114
        gear ratios:
                1st 4.03
                2nd 2.37
                3rd 1.49
                4th 1.00
                5th 0.81

1987-1988 Thunderbird 2.3L turbo 1352-155
3.55 final drive ratio with T5 transmission
3.73 with the A4LD auto transmission
        8.8" rear end
        gear ratios:
                1st 3.97
                2nd 2.34
                3rd 1.46
                4th 1.00
                5th 0.79

(I dont have the manual XR ratios but assume it's similar to Thunderbird)

Unfortunately that my T5 has a weird GM shifter plate and it's about 6 inches forward of where it ought to be... should be fun.

The Non-World Class T5 has pretty good ratios too. The final drive is really the most important bit to any setup. If you get either the non WC T5, your GM, or the G-Force stuff, you have to have a proper CWP to really utilize your torque. I've been scouring the web trying to find ones for the 7.5 diff, as I'd be happy with a welded Ford 7.5", but the only ones I've found have been a million dollars. Okay, a 4.44 for $995, and a 4.2 for 695 pounds.
We're going on a junkyard expedition on Saturday morning to find some Merkur bits, rear control arms to redo the brackets, and a rear beam to use for Supra diff mounting. Then on to a different yard to find a Supra diff, and some Subaru body panels for a different car. Keeping the eye open for Saab's for a radiator too.
I have to keep the car running though until we finish the cage, which we'll probably get started on soon.

now i am bidding on this one.

You found an Xratti in a junkyard? Lucky you, I'd like to find one, I'll likely need some little bits & pieces during final assembly.

Once we get the GpA rear beam fabbed, everyone should just go to Supra diff smiling smiley

The beam, diff, and a diff rebuild would probably come to less than those Ford 7.5 prices. We've been getting the Supra diffs out of the junkyard for less than a hundred.

Heehee. There are no less than three in junkyards in Denver. 5 more if I'm willing to drive 60-100 miles.

The closest one is a red sunroofless model and has sat virtually untouched (except the turbo) since we first pulled the spoiler from it probably 4-5 months ago.

The Supra diff Aaron got was $40. I'm keeping my eye out for one of those also on Saturday.
