well as many before me have attempted (hopefully I can complete the journey), I picked up a 94 golf for cheap (600).

Yes its not a MKII, and its a 4dr, I hope I can still be in the club smiling smiley and I may like the extra access. Its got the nifty OBDI ABA 2.0 liter which is damn near bullet proof.

and to the pics:

and a hint of things to come (Big valve, P&P head)

It should be a fun couple years, goal is to have it ready for the '08 season, but that's subject to change of course

I recomend you may the long trek accross town to have a long and hard look at my Golf for ideas. Just because it is a bit bent does not mean you can not look at it.

Almost no scratches - WTF - look too purdy...

Go have a look-see at Derek's - he's made up some serious strengthening on some critical places :-).

bah too purdy, she's got over 280k on here. The PO was a traveling salesman so its all highway. The best part is no sunroof, abs or AC, manual windows and rear disk

Jason I suggest that you talk real nice to Derek and see if he would be sooo good as to sell you a bunch of the RIGHT STUFF that is currently residing in his Golf if not just purchasing the car from him in it's current state.
Derek's Golf has the Motor, gearbox, drive axles and hubs, suspension, and a thousand other things that should be on your 'To-Do List.'

You could *mostly bolt a really naughty FAST car together in this fashion.

Derek, I'll take you up on that offer. I'm busy for the next couple weeks with my buddies wedding. But I'm free anytime after the 23rd. Shoot me an email (mack730@gmail.com) or call (425-478-8516) when you've got some free time. I would love to give it the once over

Sadly, I've come to realize that I need to be responsible with my finances sad smiley and pay off my student loans before I head down the crazy rally purchasing path. Now if Derek wants to hold on to the car for another 6 months then sell it to me...... hint hint
Its just another missed oportunity because the timing wasn't right.

Pay interest for a while on your student loans and get Derek's car.
You will thank Derek and I later.
