I'm working on a friend's 1993 240, and the banjo fittings on the fuel filter look like something from a James Cameron documentary on the Titanic. Any recommendations on a serviceable conversion to something sane, preferably that can be done in an afternoon, and that mounts in more or less the same way?

Alternately, a source for spare banjo bolts (M12 and M14) would be much appreciated.

A well stocked industrial hydraulic place might have the banjo bolts -- metric makes it a challenge. We had a place here that used to stock metric banjoes, but they went bust.

FWIW, some guys at one of the online magazines did a test on penetrating oils and a 50/50 concoction of ATF and Acetone was the winner, haven't tried it myself but I plan to soon.

Cheers, Ted
