partial seam welding - prep work?

Moose is coming over Sunday afternoon to drink beer, I mean, help me do some seam welding in the engine bay before we yank the ABS and drop in my donor motor. From what I have been reading around the rally community, seam welding is something best done when you have a stripped shell of a car in a shop or driveway. Well, this car still has a full interior in it and will be seeing mostly rallX duty for next year or so while I get my life after college in order.

Any tips from the veterans as to what I might do between now and Sunday to make the seam welding easier? Anywhere else I should really consider stripping back pretty plastic and leather pieces to make way for the welder? I have a basic understanding of how to do it right, but I need the voice of experience to get a good compromise and, if Moose is offering to help me out, I want to be sure to make his helping me out as thirst-quenching, er, easy as possible.

Thanks, fellas.

Oy vay! Moose is a slave driver! I've spent days pulling engines that didn't leave me this worn out. The back of my neck is on fire from a nasty sun burn and every muscle in my back is sore.

This actually looked like a running condition Galant this before Moose showed up...

I at least buttoned her back up enough that it looks decent again before the sun set. Can't risk the neighbors organizing. If you've had one cross burned on your lawn, you try to avoid it in the future.

Brian you are such a wuss. That's the kind of a complaint I'd only expect from a person who goes to Yanni concert.

Put some plain yogurt on your neck, it will take the burn away in a hurry.
Get the 3 inline and 2 T fittings. We got more work to do.

LOL. Twice in one week, sir. Twice in one week. (What can I say? Mum's a fan.)

I'm working on the fittings. I'm going to see if I can't find them cheap (free) through my usual connections. Also following up on the buddy who once offered me a free balance shaft eliminator kit to see if the deal still stands.

We'll get there. How's your calendar looking for 09.23? I can aim to have it all ready to go by then. Maybe even space, dare I say it, in the garage, to do some work!

Thanks again for your help.
