Steering links out of?

I was thinking 6061 1" diamater bar...
Right or wrong material?
Too thick, or too thin?
Should I use really thick wall tubing instead of soild?

Thanks...Martin.

Do you mean the tie rods or do you mean the steering arms?

Crazy questions...

1) Why are you replacing the factory bits? Strength?, Bump Steer correction?

2) What are the factory bits made of?

Gut feeling, I'd go with steel tubing with weld in inserts & decent quality male rod ends, I'd be uncomfortable with threads on or in Al.

Cheers, Ted

Both, OEM ones bend real easily, and I'll be making the bump steer adjustable.

Steel of some sort, around 3/8"

I have good quality rod ends just trying to decide what to stick them into. DOM tubing was one consideration, but I thought I'd seen aluminum ones on some other cars... can't remember where/when.

I'd go steel tube at 7/8" swaged like in Coleman.
