What Rules to Build To????

I already know the answer to this question... maybe this is more to bring a point into the open from a newbie perspective.... but how does one decide what rules to build to?

RA- is like shooting at a moving target and you've never shot a gun before - missing the target is garanteed - especially with cage and seat rules subject to change ... which will undoubtedly be done when the car is pre-logbooked. So RA is out of the question for me (I wasn't even planning on running any under them anyways )

NASA- This is where my answer lies. Consistency and build rules which make sense. These are the rallies I plan to run.

CARS- I may end up runing some of these rallies, but probably not too many. Again consistency and build rules which make sense.

Since all bodies accept logbooks for each other - Which one do you choose? What about an FIA cage - it seems the trend is away from a "home brewed" cage- put an FIA cage in and be DONE

thoughts from the elders?

I think you answered your own question. I would build to the rules of the body that you intend to run with most of the time.

Slightly off topic...but I would imagine that a requirement like the HANS that RA will be requiring soon will be required at a RA event regardless of car log book.

Yeah lots of thoughts, but I am getrting weary of typing.

Shortly: yeah ANY person can build a cage according to the specs at FIA section 253, or easier to find under CARS rules, and if one follows the varioua alternatives and the tube sizes and notes at log book time that "Cage done to art 253 section..." and reference the drawings of which alternative door bar and diagonal and roof bar, then presto its an FIA cage.

And dude you'd be crazy to not do BC events, Alberta may be a bit far, but the costs, the atmospere and the roads, and the near proximity make it soooooper attractive.

I dont think that is true...you MUST meet at least the fuel cell bulkhead rule to run RA races, the cage might be accepted. So if you ever plan to run RA get the right car OR plan the bulkhead out well in advance.
